Food was just okay. Atmosphere was great. Staff WILL STEAL your items if you're not careful!

I went here with a close friend for dinner. The atmosphere was fantastic as you could clearly see the bay from the large windows. The food was just okay. Not anything different than your average Chinese buffet. The worst part was that I left the table for about 10 minutes, realized I had left my expensive Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses, rushed back to the table to see that the table had been cleared and the sunglasses were GONE. Over the next few days I repeatedly inquired about them only to get an "I'm sorry". I was like "Do you realize one of your staff STOLE your customer's property?" The manager said he'd post a note on the bulletin board. Not a very good reflection of the establishment at all. I won't be going back. Food was just way too average, wait was too long, and I don't feel like getting robbed (literally) again.
- Pros: Beautful view.
- Cons: Long wait for seating. Food barely average. Staff will steal your property if you're not careful.
Great food and value!!!

I'm often amused by reviews that complain about long waits and sub-par take-out. Long waits generally mean either a great restaurant or 7pm dining.... and what food IS 100% after 1/2 hour in styrofoam!?!? I like E-Bar because you set the price!!! At lunch I often have one of 5 or 6 specials (stirfry/jambalaya/ BLT/Burrito/Cobb) and ice tea or soda for under $10!!! (you can hardly get that at Subway anymore). Yes it starts to add up with an App ($6-8) cktl ($6) Dessert ($4-6)... etc. But bottom line... if you want to splurge to can, if you are on a tight budget, you can meet that too!! New Daly City location doesn't have the view but it is closer to shopping (Serremonte Center by Mervyns).
- Pros: Great Food, Great Value, MMM Lamb Shank!!!
- Cons: Very Popular, Parking
Disappointing take out food
by cheerioh at Citysearch
The food quality we brought home fell way below the value, $48.63, needless to say it was disappointing. The restaurant, we understand is busy, is not trained to handle take out orders. We ordered the lettuce and chicken wrap, kona bbq ribs, jambalaya, cobbler, and fudge brownie. First off, the server (not the hostess, she was pleasant and nice) forgot to include the desserts. So when I alerted her to it, there was no apology and no explanation. The dessert quantity was really piddly because they were in such a hurry to get it together. Mind you they said the food would be ready at 7:20 PM, I got there at 7:30 PM. The kona bbq ribs was supposed to include apple cinnamons, but did not. The jambalaya's rice was dry and clumpy while the chicken was tough and dry.
- Pros: Yummy Fudge Brownie
- Cons: Expensive, No parking, Long Wait
View and Food Make Up for The Wait......!!
by califswissgirl at Citysearch
O.K....so everybody knows that you have to wait to get a table in this place. Since you have to wait anyway, I strongly recommend requesting a window table, as the wait is about the same. The atmosphere is lively, light and fun. I would not recommend taking impatient children, seniors or trying to have a "quiet"romantic dinner here. I think the food, which is always served, fresh, hot , tasty and plentiful deserves way more credit than the reviews here give it. Order someting fresh from the grill (i.e. burgers or freshly grilled seafood) and you will not be disappointed. The view is beyond compare, and I now know the manager by first name, who was/is always accomodating to our needs (probably for not a huge salary, either). My only complaint is the noise. This is a party place, so come in a party mood...you'll love it!!!
- Pros: View, Good Fresh Food, Cool Decor
- Cons: Noisy, Noisy, Sometimes wait
The Pictures are Prettier

We chose the Elephant because most restaurants in Burlingame close after 9PM. Decor is certainly fun with a lively younger crowd. The circular bar's neat but after the bartender mixed some weak margaritas, he seemed to ignore me when I wanted to pay up so I could get to our table. Food is OK, definitely not as pretty as the pictures on the menu. My lamb shanks were a very good value but undercooked and chewy-I took the second shank home, braised it another 2 hours the following night and it was much better. My girlfriends teriyaki chicken was dry and minced too small, looked nothing like the plump pieces in the pictures. Ditto for the seafood combo platter. I dont want to totally rip on the place because the prices are almost comparable to Dennys for dinner so its not a bad alternative for a little variety and atmosphere.
- Pros: Fun atmosphere, Variety, Open late
- Cons: Average food, Spotty service
