An F for Service and Attitude, Food is passable.
This place... the service is poor, management is completely unorganized, their attitude is gpd-awful, and they treat long time customers like s@#$. Need I say more?
My story: I called in a $80 sushi take-out order one Fri. They told me it will be 30 min. I showed up promptly and was ignored for 15 min. I then politely asked about my food. They told me it would be another 10-15 min. I then, in a normal tone of voice, reminded them my order was now taking 55-60 min. instead of the originally promised 30 min. They accused me of exaggerating, so I proved I wasn't. I then calmly asked for a 20% discount, since I am a long time customer (I live within walking distance) because I will now be 30 min. late to meet my friends, and because it was clear they hadn't even STARTED on my order after 45 min.
Instead of trying to make it right, the manager told me they can't do my order. Please leave, he said.
I couldn't believe it. I was left humuliated and met my friends empty-handed, without the sushi I ordered a full hour earlier.
Reader, before you assume I deserved to be ejected, keep in mind that I work in customer support myself and under no circumstances would I ever treat him with disrespect or make unreasonable demands. A 20% discount is not unreasonable, and would be offered automatically by manner restaurants in this situation.
I suspect the manager did it because he was looking for a way to reduce the restaurant's chaotic mess that night (the place was crazy) any way he could, even if it meant losing a very faithful customer who has spent in excess of $2000 in 4 years. They were clearly shorthanded but also very lacking in basic organization and business sense.
I patronized this place for years because it is clean and the sushi is okay (not that great, there are far better places in San Mateo center), and its location was very convenient to me. But you can bet that I will never, ever go back again.
I had an awful experience. I didn't think such a nice resturant could serve below average food. I ate lunch and order a california roll. The sushi that I was given was not fresh. The parts of the rice was hard as if it was sitting around too long or I got the bottom of the barrel rice. I noticed that the sushi chefs were wrapping up some rolls and storing them in back. Save your money and go else where.
