Very Professional Service! Nothing Snooty about this Store..
Those who have visited Shreve and been disappointed in the service must not have been working with Stephanie. She is a sales associate par excellence - great taste, a good eye for what suits her customers and a delight to work with. (There is nothing snooty about her.)
Shreve is not a discount jeweler - if you want discounts, go to ebay. However when you want the best - and not after market watches and designer jewelry copies being sold as originals - then Shreve is the place to go. They carry every fine watch brand and stand behind what they sell.
Unbelievably Condescending!.
Does one only get decent reception at Shreve & Co. if they are a tourist? My two experiences at this San Francisco staple were disappointing at best. My first I spent $2500 on a watch for my husband but was treated like a criminal--like I stole the money to purchase this gift, and the 2nd time: when I asked about a piece of jewelry that my parents gave me: they asked me where I got it. As if I stole the piece.
i cannot believe they have been able to stay in business. The only reason I can give is that tourists frequent the store and are willing to pay their inflated prices!
I will NEVER spend another dime at this establishment!
Horrible service, beyond snooty.
While the selection of watches, jewelry etc is certainly impressive, the remarkably poor customer service and bizarrely condescending attitudes of the sales people has guaranteed that I will never set foot in this store again. I called in advance to ask if they size jewelry that was not purchased at their store and was told "yes". So I went into the store with a ring I recently purchased out of state (not a very expensive piece, but more of a fun cocktail ring) and asked to speak with someone about sizing. I was not asked, but told, that it didn't seem to be a Shreve piece. I confirmed that it was not, at which point I was given one of the most condescending looks ever and told that I couldn't be helped. When I referenced my phone call I was told that I must not have been clear about the origin of the ring, and that they couldn't do anything for me. I left feeling completely frustrated at having wasted so much time and effort and more than a little insulted.
I am now in the market for a Rolex watch for my husband's birthday, but would rather throw away the $7000 than spend it at this store.
Rude. I went to Shreve and Co to look for a wedding band and the sales person would hardly give me the time of day. After trying on a couple of bands and asking opinions/questions she quipped "Why don't you come back with your fiance." It was unbelieveably rude and if she was in a hurry, she should have had another salesperson assist me.
Bad Service, Okay Jewelry, Overpriced.
I've been to Shreve a couple of times to do some shopping. I find the salespeople extremely pretentious and rude. One salesman was actually chewing and popping his gum with his mouth open when he was helping me! That rude behavior coming from someone from a supposedly respected jewelry company shocked me.
The finishes on their rings are sub-par and rough, even without the aid of a magnifying loupe. Their diamonds are overpriced, I've found better prices for the same quality elsewhere.
Great Expirence. This past weekend I purchased 2 watches from them. They were both sold at retail not a penny more. My sales assosiate was very knowedgable about the product. Would not buy from any other store again.
Worst Shopping Experience Ever. I went to Shreve & Co. looking for an engagement ring and I was treated like a fool and a child by the salesman. He continuously ignored my straightforward questions and kept holding the ring well out of my reach so that I could not see the price, telling me again and again to notice how "it sparkles in the light". This rude salesman, who immediately tried selling me up without asking me what I was interested in seeing or what my price range was, is the reason I will never set foot in this store again.
Traditional jeweler upholds quality for the future, with one foot in the past..
In Short
Shreve & Company has been a San Francisco favorite for more than 150 years, offering the amenities of a full-service jeweler with time-tested experience in quality silverware, flatware and crystal. The polished display cases stock watches by Rolex, Cartier and Jaeger-LeCoultre, while the back shelves showcase Shreve's signature Buckingham pattern flatware, along with crystal by Waterford and Baccarat.
