We kept smelling the wonderful aromas coming from this place as we came and went from our hotel next door so we decided to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. The food was very tasty and quite plentiful. The curry was especially good.
had a very very big dinner at Million Thai Restaurant and Bar ... yes, very satisfying!
So I ended up going there twice and enjoyed both visits. (btw if you are a Delta Skymiles Dining member, you get miles for every dollar you spend)
Anyways first time I went, I had the choo chee beef. It was great and under $10. Second time I went, I splurged a but and got the Pad Thai with Lobster Tail. That was well worth the $30.
The place is small and quaint and the service levels were good.
The lunch specials are great values, come with soup, salad, entree, rice, and an appetizer. Food is quite good. Restaurant is small with attentive staff.
A small place, but the food is fabulous and the portions are good. The Angel Chicken Wings are a must. Decided to experiment away from the Pad Thai (which I have had there before - delicious), and the other noodle dish was just a delicious. The service was efficient, very polite and considerate. This is a great place with very reasonable prices, just on the side of downtown.
My wife and i stopped here for a late night beer and food. The restaurant is a busy bar at night, it was fun. I had the pad thai and it was great. Perfect place to finish the night if you are staying in the area.
Karaoke room outback is. Fun on weekends late, does a small buffet lunch and has a huge menu of all the thai classics
Dinner first night . . . I'm tired, jazzed up, and not eager to walk far from the Hotel Mark Twain. So I peered into Million Thai, which is literally right next door to the hotel, and thought "What the heck!" Only one other customer, but the staff looked so eager to see me . . . what the heck.
It's nothing much inside, not bad, and I liked being able to sit next to the open kitchen and watch the cooks. And nod and smile when the dishes came out. Communicating directly with the back of the house staff is a big plus in my experience, even if it's just a quick nod and "Nice!" when you try their stuff.
The egg rolls ($5.95) were blessedly not wrapped in egg roll skins, but in spring roll skins, and they were piping hot, not (too) greasy, and nicely crisp/chewy/savory. Liked the sweet and hot pepper sauce, nicely spicy. I like it hot.
The papaya salad ($6.95) was generous, nicely balanced, and just the right heat. Crunchy and delicious. And to round out the meal, the Tom Yum Gai ($7.95) was in a delicious broth, stuffed with mushrooms, and blazingly hot.
Overall, if you're in the mood for Thai in downtown I'd give 'er a rip . . . it's comparable in pricing to other (less desirable) places nearby, and the staff is eager to serve.
Today I needed a quick bite, was in the mood for Thai food and remembered my fave Thai restaurant on the corner of Taylor @ O'Farrell only it's gone now, the new place is called Million Thai. I gave it a try and glad I did. My favorite dish is the Kao Gra Prow with sautéed ground chicken, bell pepper, thai chili and basil served over steamed rice; it's all about the basil and chili! I started off with the cucumber salad, perfect sweetness and tart flavor with red onion. They have a special right now, free Thai Iced tea with your entrée' order.
The staff was pleasant, the food was easy on the eye to look at and tasted wonderful, I'd definitely go back.
So this used to be king of thai but they just changed the name and added lunch specials.
the lunch special is AMAZING! you get an appetizer, soup, and an entree and a drink for 9.95! I was a happy happy starving student when I went here on my school lunch break.
I got the panang curry which was very flavorful. Everything was the right amount, I was able to eat almost all of it without being on the brink of explosion haha.
I will be back of course... oh! I will miss the free popcorn machine king of thai had!
