It's on Valencia Street in the Mission but it's definitely not Mexican. Mau is slang for eat, and in this case it's Vietnamese with the usual, spring rolls, pho, noodles, clay pots, rice plates and banh mi at lunch. But what makes it unusual is sustainable ingredients, and a few out of the ordinary dishes like steamed and crispy-fried quails, with watercress and house vinaigrette or bun bo hue, soup with pork tenderloin, beef shank and spicy lemongrass chicken broth.

Not groundbreaking Vietnamese (the flavors can be a bit muted) but the ingredients are a tick above most places. Affordable, good beers, fun Mission vibe. Good for a quick, mid-week bite.

Are you down to Pho? Well they are at this place. SUPER generous portions; please order a nice noodle bowl and you won't be hungry for a week.
