After being at Lake San Antonio for the weekend, our group of 12 was heading back home and decided to grab a meal together on Sunday afternoon. We had heard about McLintock's and decided to make a stop. It was a great choice. The restaurant is on the East side of the 101 on the hill and we were seated in a room that overlooked the ocean. First, instead of bread, they put onion rings on the table. Then, with your meal, you get a salad, ranch beans, skillet potatoes, and a dessert (ice cream or dinner liqueur). I ordered the 24oz porterhouse (done medium) and others at the table ordered the 14oz rib eye w/ gorgonzola (done medium). The steaks were amazing! They were tender, juicy and flavorful. I wanted to lick the plate. I tried someone else's steak (the rib eye) and I liked that better than my porterhouse. The sides were a bit heavy and many in the group said they felt stuffed after the 4 courses. I and another woman shared the meal (not split because that's another 12.95 added to the $36 meal) and felt fine afterwards. For each adult at the table, 1 kid eats free. We had 8 adults and 4 kids and the bill came to $260 ($300+ w/ tip). Seems pretty reasonable for a steakhouse. As far as ambience and entertainment, the restaurant has this thing about pouring water where they try to get as far away from your cup as they can without missing the glass and as soon as you take a sip of your water, they want to show you their skills and fill it back up. At the end of the meal, they offered to do a trick with a willing participant: put a glass on your head and while blindfolded, pour water in the glass. It was very funny and they succeeded. The whole room was clapping. Inside the restaurant looks like a lodge with stuff animals mounted all over the place. There was definitely a lot to look at while you're seated. Service was great, people were nice. Overall, a great experience.

Pros: Great Steaks and Great Overall Experience

Cons: A lot of greasy sides; a lot of food for just one person; may feel stuffed after meal

I left hungry. My ribs were so dry that they were stuck to the bone. The only plus: the service was great. But after waiting 2 hours to be seated, not even the excellent service will bring me back to a place that serves horrible food. Honestly the WORST meal I have ever eaten in a restaurant...anywhere! Others say to try it again, I just caught them on a bad night, but I won't make that mistake twice.
