What Our Expert Scouts Are Saying

State Bird Provisions
A little birdie told us that this recently opened hot spot was named after their delectable, signature quail dish, which also happens to be the California State bird. Husband and wife team and former Rubicon alumni, Chef Stuart Brioza and Pastry Chef Nicole Krasinski, have made their culinary mark in the lower Fillmore District. Service is dim-sum style, but instead of steamed pork buns, you’ll find distinctly flavored, creative small plates such as Kimchi-pork belly with tofu and clams or the succulent glazed pork ribs with chrysanthemum & togarashi. So, if you are craving an innovative new dining experience in S.F., fly on over to State Bird where you can have your state bird and eat it too.

The ever-changing menu here will keep you coming back. Really exciting food that's all about the pursuit of delicious. Don't miss the garlic bread with burrata and the incredible sturgeon with the pancake. World peace peanut milk, a must. Fun vibe; come hungry, leave happy.

Food is served in the style of dim-sum. Dishes are creative, inventive and totally delicious. Reservations are tough to get but when and if you get in, it'll be worth the wait.

State Bird's dim-sum style service turns dining into a choose-your-own-adventure experience, with exciting, unexpected plates at every turn. Best of all, the food is fanTASTIC! On my last visit, one of the off-menu plates offered was a from-scratch garlic knot, draped in melted buratta; it was so heart-warmingly, mind-blowingly delicious, I had to order another!
