Fresh fish, friendly/attentive staff, reasonable prices. I just got home from my second sushi dinner at Daimaru. This place is special. We went early and had the sushi bar to ourselves. The oysters were yummy, the dynamite roll is very tasty and all the fish looks and tastes wonderful. And the presentation is very nice.

The sushi chef looks really young, but is so talented and fascinating to watch.

This place has a small, neighborhood hangout feel.

I went to Daimaru the first time because of the reviews on citysearch, and I am glad I did. This is even why I joined, so I could write a review and say thanks to the other reviewers.

We'll be back. And bringing friends.

delicious. I love Uni, shashimi and Unagi , nice and fresh, We enjoy very much, the service is nice and the place is clean. be back soon.

so good. We walk on 16th street to castro, we saw this place. we have dinner their , the waitess is very nice and friendly. The sushi and sashimi are fresh. I love their UNI. See you again

Great little local Japanese with interesting sushi - unpretentious!. You have to try a lot of the more unusual sushi if you go to this place. They have the most fantastic scallops roll with the scallops are lightly broiled and piled on top of the roll together with a spicy mayonnaise sauce. The sake (salmon) with sweet onions is also a favorite of ours. The miso mackerel is delish - it stews the mackerel for many hours in this sweet sticky miso sauce so that the mackerel melts in your mouth. Certainly unusual and great with sticky rice. The sushi here is very fresh, and I recommend sitting at the sushi counter where you can watch the chef, who is also the owner, prepare the sushi. There was one time though when the chef was not around when I went - the quality dropped noticeably... But if the chef is around, you can be guaranteed great sushi.

you should try it!. We tried this place after being completely disappointed with Sushi Ran in Sausalito. We ordered 3 rolls--all which were very good. THere is a considerable amount of fish in each one, and we left there completely satisfied. The prices are very reasonable, adn some of the rolls are exotic. They even have some eggplant rolls for the sushi loving vegetarian.

Our only complaints were that there was no miso soup, edamame, or salad to start with and that we asked for a 'Castro Roll' and received a 'Caterpillar Roll', making us miss the checkilists that usually exist in a sushi bar, preventing any language barrier confusions.

Overall, we really liked this place, and would suggest it to our friends.

Bomber Sushi. This place is a little slice of heaven in the Castro. My wife and I stumbled into this restaurant by accident when we first moved into the city and we have been coming here several times a month since. The rolls are big, tasty, and fantastic. The nigiri is always very fresh. We have NEVER left without being completely full, happy, and wanting to come back again soon. I highly recommend this restaurant!

A Fresh Catch!. My boyfriend and I went to eat late on a Sunday night at Daimaru Sushi. The environment and ambience resembled that of a little hole-in-the wall restaurant; seemed much like a place the "regulars" would often go. Even on a late Sunday night, the sushi tasted absolutely fresh and melted in my mouth! My boyfriend agrees as well. We sat at the bar and received utmost attention and continued to ask for recommendations throughout the night. We are usually quick to order, eat and leave but we ended up staying there for a little more than an hour chatting with "Jigaro-san". I highly recommend this place. I didn't know it was so close to the Castro but it is and it's a great place for those who just want some great sushi for the night. A very homey atmostphere! Go check this place out yourself!
