Great lunch salad. Went here recently for lunch. I haven't seen very many places that offer a custom, high-end, organic salad made to order. Definitely a popular lunch spot downtown.

Chincy serving of toppings, long lines & pricey for a salad. I really thought this place was great when they first opened. Salads were fresh, pricing was a little high but do-able. Now, I avoid the place like the plague. Basically, if you go on the weekdays at lunchtime, plan on waiting in a Disneyland style line. They opened up two other places since this one opened, but the lines are still long. If you get there when they open, you'll still wait in line as they are so busy taking care of their phone orders that they just leave their customers in line waiting. They have also gotten extremely chincy on the toppings (servers need to go back to tong school). They're even to the point where they have pre-maded packets of chicken (they apparently have someone weighing it in advance and I think the scale is set for one ounce....yeah, what a joke for an additional $2.50). The salads I order usually run about $12.50 so I'm not quite sure why people think that's reasonably priced (it's not). This place is just a good idea gone bad in regards to customer service. I can't tell you how disappointed I am at the way this place has regressed. It really is a shame. I have since gone back to my previous favorite salad place on Irving Street and save about $5 a salad. One word for Mixt Greens.....OVERATED!

love it. This is the perfect, healthy unique tasty salad lunch spot. So happy it's come to the area! My suggestion is go earlier as they often run out of key ingredients on busy days though.

perfect place for salad lovers. Delicious salads...yes there are long lines but I often judge a restaurant by the crowd size and obviously this place is popular. My favorite item on the menu thus far is the Madison. This salad combines grilled chicken, asparagus and yummy pine nuts. The price is typical for the location and it worth it for the healthy feeling of eating right. I highly recommend Mixt Greens for all salad lovers!

Pricey & an awful dining experience. When this place first opened, I would haved rated everything 5 Star from the salad down to the employees. But honestly people, at some point it needs to be more than just the salad, doesn't it? So if I were to coin the Janet Jackson song, "what have you done for me lately"...this is what Mixt Greens has done:

1) Prices have gone up substantially. If you want mushrooms, it is now an additional $2 for a tong's worth (it's a specialized item now....oooh), and most of the meats have gone up in price also

2) Plan on allowing 1 1/2 to 2 hours for lunch if you plan on going between 11:30 and 1:30 as often the lines are out the door (feels like Disneyland without all the interactive stuff to distract you during your long wait)

3) They refuse to open earlier so even if you get there at 10:30am, you still have to wait because they're taking care of all their call in orders and practically ignoring the customers in front of them (plan on 15 to 20 minutes because only one person is handling the line)

4) They continue to let people save seats even though they haven't even gotten their salad yet (often tables go unused for 10 minutes at a time because of the inconsiderate people pulling this tactic). In the meantime, you're sitting there with your salad and have to go outside in the cold

Bottom line for me is, it needs to be an enjoyable dining experience and this is where Mixt Greens falls dreadfully short. At some point maybe they'll address it, but for now it's apparent they don't give a damn. Of course, why should they as long as people flock in there like sheep? I made my last trip there today. I don't have the time or patience for poor service and am through with this place. Looks like it's back to Pluto's for me (Irving Street only). The salad may not be quite as good, but there aren't any lines usually and the pricing and service is more to my liking.

Best salads in the city. Mixt Greens has great salads. There are long lines, but they seem to move quickly. It is best to go after 1:30. Seems pricy, but compared with other lunch places downtown, you end up paying almost the same price. I go there several times a week now.

Good Salad if it's to Go. 3 visits: 1st delicious but high price, nowhere to sit & longest line in downtown SF; 2nd time: smaller salad & still nowhere to sit; 3rd time: lettuce partially frozen (not good esp. in consideration of price $12) & inside was nearly as cold since the doors were propped wide open despite the 45-degree weather, staff unaccomodating when approached about the temperature. Rating is sinking.....

Best Salad Ever?! Yes!!!. How can both the public and the editors of Citysearch be wrong? This is truly the best Salad place in all of San Francisco. People in this column complain about the lines and the prices, but the lines just prove how good this place is and as the saying goes "you get what you pay for," and here it could not be more true. I rate this place a 10 - great food and good value! So you pay a dollar more than you would for that crappy sandwich down the street that was made a day ago, this place is fresh and tasty (and I don't normally like salads either). The staff is incredibly nice and the line moves quickly. I say try it! Clearly the long line of patrons believe it's the best salad too... Highly recommended!

Too expensive; Small quantities. While I give Mixt props for its selection of fresh salad fixings, I think it is very overpriced. The chefs are pretty stingy on the toppings, despite the fact that salads can range from $11-15.

Watch for "Organic We-eds" in the mixed greens - Should be called "Mixt We-eds"!. I can no longer patronize this once fine & clean establishment. After 3 continuous weeks of having lunch here & enjoying it, I can no longer go. I always got my staple of mixed greens with filet & shrimp. It always came to $14.88. This week, on Monday, I go & it is now $15.88. Fine. It is fresh & good & I can justify the extra dollar. However, when I opened the container & started eating, I saw a 7 inch long branch with tiny prickly leaves that cut my finger to the touch. At the end of this branch are 5 little flowers just beginning to open. I've seen this speciman before, I think to myself. Yea in my friggin backyard! This is something I would spray "Round Up" on or tell my gardner to "Pull all those pesky things!" Needless to say, I was disgusted and have been traumatized by this experience. I did call Mixt Greens and told them of the situation. They said that it occassionally happens since the purveyors aren't very careful down in salinas/gilroy. However, I say, when you charge these amounts for "To Go Salad", the Purveyors at Mixt Greens should be able to "we-ed" these nasty things out! I cannot possibly fathom going into Gary Danko's or Boulevard's or "Aqua" & having a "prickly we-ed" in my salad...& then having them blame the purveyor's-whom they get the produce from. Have some checks & balances and take responsibility! I can see if the salad was not organic, or it cost $5.00. I would expect "we-eds" in a $5.00 salad, but ABSOLUTELY NOT in a $15.00 salad. By the way, I did return the salad & got the same exact salad-this time without the "we-ed". However, there was another prickly leaf in the 2nd salad too. Whatever, I no longer care, I can't go back. I'll have to suffer by walking down to Tadich, Boulevard's or even Slanted Door to get a salad. MIXT WE-EDS B GONE!
