When people think of “eating good,” a chocolate twist and butterscotch sea salt cookie, doesn’t usually come to mind. At Hayes Valley Bakeworks; however, good is delicious. The non-profit café and bakery is 100 percent focused on community, and via Toolworks, supports a culinary training program providing a path toward self-sufficiency for those with disabilities. Ingredients are sourced locally, and the made-from-scratch menu items include temptations like earlier mentioned sweets or the Backyard BBQ Chicken Sandwich with slaw and fried onions. Wash it down with a Café Con Leche by Four Barrel Coffee or Kombucha on tap brewed locally by Revive.
