This handsome Mission bakery is nothing short of spectacular, with row after row of tempting sweet & savory financiers, gougeres, cakes, & eclairs. But what I cannot stop thinking about is the out of this world "sipping caramel" with a crispy croissant chip. They also do afternoon tea weekdays from 1-4pm.
I love everything here. The Rebel Within, savory muffin with a soft-cooked egg in the center, is a world-class baked good. The cube cakes are stunningly beautiful and complex works of art. Even the bread is extraordinary.
The Rebel Within--their muffin with a runny yolk in the center--will blow your mind. All of their other pastries are worth a taste too.
I'm not sure how acclaimed pastry chef William Werner gets a slow cooked egg inside a sausage and asiago muffin, but he's like a magician and the resulting dish is spectacular. There's limited seating, so go on a day when you know it won't be crowded.
