Reviews for Gioia Pizzeria
Here’s a riddle. There is a room filled with a hundred people, from all around the world, different cultures, and different backgrounds. What’s the one common denominator? They all love pizza! Which brings me to my next point, Gioia, which has been bringing joy to Berkeley pizza lovers (everyone) since 2004, now spreads the love to San Francisco. Serving lunch and dinner six days a week, you’ll find thin crust, East Coast-style pizza with artisanal touches and California-focused ingredients. Don't like pizza? I don't believe you, but you can keep up the charade by ordering the Skirt Steak with a side of Broccoli di Cicco, bagna cauda, pickled spring onions, and fried smashed potatoes.
Sometimes simple is best. The Formaggio with tomato sauce and mozzarella is outstanding, and cheaper than the other pies.
Fresh ingredients and a solid NY-style pie (meaning crispy crust that still bends and gives) make this one of the better pizza spots in SF. You can't go wrong with plain, but if you need a little more excitement than that, try topping with arugula and prosciutto.

Pizza lure diners to this chic, yet laid back spot-pastas, apps & beer list make it worth visiting whether u live in the neighborhood or not
