Friendly international hostel in SoMa.. The Scene
Not a typical tourist neighborhood, South of Market, or SoMa, is known for its excellent freeway access, miles of industrial warehouses, and more recently its outrageously expensive dot-com loft conversions. Hostel guests will find that on-foot travel to most tourist destinations is possible but exhausting. And since non-metered parking spots are hard to come by in this part of town, learning the city's convenient bus system is probably the best option.

The Details
The hostel, formerly a speakeasy, bathhouse, and hospice, now houses 150 beds in the most basic quarters. Each room accommodates between five and eight travelers and has a private bathroom. While the property's extras include a pool table, sun deck, microwave and refrigerator, no cooking facilities are available. It is possible, however, to purchase breakfast and dinner at the hostel. Guests must show a passport and proof of international travel upon check-in.
