In a neighborhood populated by auto-body shops and clubs (Slim's is next door) Bar Agricole, beautifully housed in San Francisco’s first LEED-certified Gold building, is a happy surprise. Following
the San Francisco trend of hyper local foods, the entrance to the restaurant takes patrons through a large patio and herb garden where the ingredients for the cocktails that make up the impressive list of updated classics are grown. The interior is designed with a sort of majestically rustic aesthetic, replete with soaring ceilings, reclaimed wood paneling, and floating glass sculptures making it the kind of place where people seem honestly excited to be out to dinner. Head chef Brandon Jew, formerly of Magnolia, has created a part French, part Californian, totally eco-friendly menu, with well-proportioned entrees that are less expensive than it seems like they should be.
