Citysearch Editorial Review. At this bustling Castro spot, owner Adriano Paganini (the man behind Pasta Pomodoro) mixes the retro stylings and low prices of an In-N-Out, with a San Franciscan’s taste for quality local ingredients. The Neiman Ranch beef patties are ground fresh daily, and the housemade pickles are so unlike the radioactive supermarket variety that you can almost see how they were once cucumbers. Perhaps the best thing about these tidy little burgers ($3.75-$6.75) is the simple fact that every ingredient is the color it was meant to be. The lettuce is emerald, the tomatoes vermillion, the bun golden-brown, even the delicious aioli based “super duper sauce” is perfectly rosy. While burgers are the specialty, there are also a number of classic diner drinks and sides including garlic cheese fries, fresh squeezed lemonade sweetened with brown sugar, and chocolate-dipped soft-serve cones, and for those looking for something harder than lemonade there are two wines and two beers, all on tap.
