New Take on Sandwiches. Fantastic new style of sandwiches. The Pabellon (shredded beef with plantains, black beans and cheese) on a Maize-wich (sweet corn bread) was so good that I had to go back the next day for another one. If you like spice, ask for for the hot sauce to add. The chupe soup hit the spot too. Note that you walk up to the counter to order and then your food is brought to your table when it is ready.

Citysearch Editorial Review. Pica Pica Maize Kitchen, the second location of the popular Napa eatery, looks like it might have fallen out of a CB2 catalog: bright colors, cool zebra wood, and brushed aluminum chairs. The star attraction at this busy counter-service spot are the Venezuelan sandwiches wrapped in one of three types of corn bread: the sweet crepe-like Cachapa, thick corn flour Arepa, or Maize’wich, a combination of the two. Once you’ve picked your maize it’s time to choose a filling. Try the Pabellon, a combination of delicately shredded skirt steak, plantains, black beans and cheese, that manages to be hearty without being heavy. There are also several vegetarian options, but skip La Vegeteriana, which is a bit dry and relies to heavily on overly large chunks of tofu. Sides include the unique triangular Yuca Fries (made out of a root vegetable commonly called cassava) which come with your choice of dipping sauce (try the sour cream and smoked chile). There are also empanadas, and a traditional Andean chicken soup.
