TacoBar, the new, and still only, taqueria on Upper Fillmore, is a straight-ahead taco joint, but with a little more pizazz. For instance, fixins' for the eatery's burros (aka burritos) and tacos include either grilled or beer-battered Mahi Mahi. Also funky: ice creams touting the flavors of sweet potato, corn, and even tequila. Of course, the usual suspects such as carne asada, carnitas, and pollo are here too, but even those can be ordered with a twist. Tacobar's interpretation of the omniscient taqueria term "super" is “tacobar Especial,” which adds cheese, crema fresca (instead of sour cream), and chipotle guacamole (instead of the regular stuff).Even the chips and salsa are fancy with a bright, plump pico de galla layered between thick, homemade tortilla chips. But with fancier fixins' comes a fancier price tag. Single tacos are priced at $5 a pop and burritos hit the $10 mark once ordered Especial.
