Citysearch Editorial Review – Formerly the mostly ignored Craig's Place, Ebb & Flow occupies a coveted corner spot on a block that's home to some of the city's favorite places to eat: Delfina, Bi-Rite and Tartine. It's festooned with the kind of maritime brick-a-brack--fishing nets, anchors, etc.--expected at any seaside fish shack, which feels a little strange in the Latin-leaning Mission, but it works, especially because the food is about what one expects from any seaside fish shack. Seafood standards like fried calamari, crab melts and mussels are all here, augmented by local favorites like ceviche and fried oyster po'boy and a list of more sophisticated daily specials. Partly because of a too-strict adherence to sourcing their seafood locally (besides world-class oysters and a trickle of crabs, sadly, there just isn't enough good fish left around here to supply a seafood restaurant) and partly due to the execution, the food here is just decent, and something less when compared to that of its nearby neighbors. But, on a warm night, with its huge street-facing windows open to the Mission breeze, Ebb & Flow makes a fine spot for a classic crab sandwich and an ice-cold local beer.
