The Perish Trust is an antiques store for people who thought they didn’t care about antiques. Devoid of stuffy Victorian knickknacks, this fastidiously curated little shop on Divisadero is chock full of oddly pretty Americana, otherwise known as cool stuff like Underwood typewriters and antique light bulbs that you probably wouldn’t have noticed on your own. The design backgrounds of owners Kelly and Rod, a photographer and photo stylist respectively, can be clearly seen in the way they display odd or obsolete items (a bunch of colorful arrows, an antique medicine ball) in such artful ways that more than one customer has asked whether they were in a store or a museum. Everything comes from local estate sales, flea markets and private collections, and the wide range of prices ensure there is something for both serious collectors and young neighborhood aesthetes.
