Tips for Ristobar

A true Italian restaurant. I recently attended a Slow Food event with Italian butchers here and had a wonderful time. They set up a grill outside and the smoky scent tantalized people for blocks around. While I haven't had a formal dinner, the bites I've had of Ristobar's food was delicious, and the wine selection was great as well. It was the perfect space to learn, socialize, and delight in tastes. The waiters and bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back for a full meal.

Try somewhere else for food, the wine was good. The wine list was good, and the server knew his wines, but that was the highlight of dinner. The short ribs were fatty and the portion was small. The pizza left a lot to be desired and same with the chard.

Love the redone restaurant!. All I can say is YUM! I went here for dinner last night and everything we ordered was delicious. We started out with the butter lettuce salad, the crawfish pasta, the vesta pizza and ended with the bread pudding. I would recommend all of them! The service was impecible. The waiter even folded my napkin when I went to the restroom. I had never eaten here when it was Emporio Rulli but the new renovations and menu have made it a very appealing Marina restaurant. I will definitely be going back.

Chef's Opening left me spoiled and happy!. Where to begin.....I love tasting menus since it gives you a flurry of wonderful flavours. I will start with the misto salad which was crisp and had a touch of dressing that complimented the mandarin orange slices. Next we were served the mushroom risotto I would have kept shoveling into my greedy mouth had they not taken the bowl away. Waiters kept coming with 4 different fired pizzas(a meatless w/ goat cheese & fresh piece of endive being my fave) and 3 exceptional foccacias hit the table. Never had zucchini foccacia before! Had it, LOVED it, dont' know it I will order anything else if that's on the menu. My companion thought the pizza selection was great since she likes meatless foods. Only one of the pizzas has meat. Moving on: prosciutto plates went by, they were wonderfully cured and tempered w/ just enough salt. They were also serving a very firm cheese, NO, it was downright hard. We did not care for it. The honey walnuts on the same platter were scrumptious. Then came an outstanding diamond shaped pasta dish w/ a mild tomato/meat sauce. It was delicate and we ate it slowly savoring every bite.

DESSERT: My guest and I NEVER skip dessert...we were like giddy children anticipating it. We expected one, but THREE...THREE goodies....I should be mean and not tell and be selfish and keep it to myself......ok here goes: #1 the smooth panne cotta w/ hazelnut, mandarin & salt, #2 rum drenched cake w/ homemade whip, #3 MY PERSONAL FAVE, lemoncello cream w/ salty pistachio. There was also a nice wine menu. We tasted a prosecco, pinot grigio, & a pinot noir. I prefer a pinot & it was excellent.

Some of the items mention above I noticed are not on the online menu. They will be having a seasonal menu, so it should be easy NOT to get bored. You will not be disappointed if you frequent Ristobar!
