Citysearch Editorial Review.
Pera has some big shoes to fill--it's in this same location that the beloved Chinese restaurant Eliza's held for 16 years--but this family-owned Mediterranean restaurant has done much to breathe new life into this space. The layout of the interior hasn't changed much, but warmer colors and an airier atmosphere definitely make for an altogether new vibe. Another cute touch is a series of interior archways along one wall (part of the building's Moorish architecture) have been painted a Grecian white and blue. The menu is extensive, great for sharing, and though the owners are from Turkey, leans more toward traditional Greek dishes. Turkish specialties, however, can be found and include the halikarnas karides guvec, shrimp baked in a clay pot with mushrooms, tomatoes, feta, and Raki (sort of the Turkish Pernod Ricard).
