Citysearch Editorial Review. Situated on a quiet, sun-drenched corner north of the Panhandle, Matching Half combines three things San Franciscans love more than any other: expertly brewed coffee, booze, and outdoor seating. The décor is minimalist without being antiseptic, and the communal tables offer a good place to listen to Burning Man buffs talk about downward dog. Caffeine comes courtesy of Verve Coffee Roaster in Santa Cruz and the baristas do it justice, brewing each cup individually with just the right amount of golden crema. The food is the standard café fare of rustic sandwiches and small salads, but the owners give a nod to the neighborhood by offering specials like a breakfast egg brioche accompanied by a Pabst, or for a dollar more, a mimosa. Other bottled beers are sold for $3 at happy hour, and patrons can have their wine by the glass, bottle, or in the case of the house red, straight from the tap.
