What Our Expert Scouts Say

Noeteca
May 14, 2013

Outdoor seating + great wine and beer + all-day eating + wifi = me staying here for 7+ hours on more than one occasion.

A lovely spot for a sip and nibble, especially with the view of the Dolores Street palms swaying outside.

Tips for Noeteca

January 22, 2010

Citysearch Editorial Review. During the day, Noeteca’s a coffeehouse and de-facto living room for residents of the sleepy outer Noe Valley, while at night, the charmingly funky space, strewn with ottomans and plush chairs and formal tables, becomes a surprisingly romantic setting for a low-key evening or date. The menu is entirely casual, featuring yummy cheese plates, savory tarts, a few sandwiches, salumi, and salads, while the to-go counter offers pre-made foods, breakfast goodies, and sweet treats (given its lack of a fully-operational kitchen, this isn’t the place to hunker down to a hearty meal). Coffee and tea is supplied by local purveyors Rodgers Coffee and Tea, which locally sources and roasts its beans, while wines come from family-owned vineyards across California and Europe. For the truly hungry, the most substantial item on the menu is a Croque Napoleon--ham and cheese layered with Mornay sauce and piled between thick slabs of bread as thick as French toast. If that’s not enough to tame a hungry belly, top it off with either the toffee bread pudding or a couple of chocolate bombas: ice cream encased in a thick chocolate shell.
