Great Food, Sweet Service!.
I was there for a little celebration with my friends, and I felt so bad that my husband wasn't there! The b&w Italian movies and traditional music playing was AWESOME~ It was very sunny, joyful kinda romantic feeling, even it was dinner. The food was really impressive! Their seafood, especially scallop, was really fresh and tasty; the tomato cream sauce was simple, rich and got great balance. The pizza was fantastic, thin, but very chewy and fresh!
The waiter and the manager were enthusiastic and polite. Their recommends helped us to make pretty good choice for the night. I'll definitely go with my husband again soon!
Authentic Neapolitan pizza and warm ambiance in North Beach.. With its cheesy "villa" paint job, mural of Naples on one wall and black-and-white Italian movies on the another, Pulcinella would be easy to dismiss as just another of the tourist-trap sh-Italian joints so typical of North Beach, which do their best to transport you to a fairy-tale version of Italy while serving you Chef Boyardee. But not so: This pizzeria is owned by a pair of brothers from Naples with San Marzano tomatoes in their blood and a pizza school and flour factory in their family, and from their hand-built wood-fire oven come ultra-traditional, authentic Neapolitan pizzas. The house specialty is the Montanara, a fluffy, fried disk of delicious, though the margherita is no slouch; in fact, it's hard to go wrong here, pizza-wise. The primi, secondi and pastas are surprisingly good, especially for a pizza joint, and there are some very inexpensive Italian wines to choose from. In light of all this, and owner Luigi's ingratiating hospitality, an atmosphere that seemed corny at first becomes charming, accommodating enough for a wine-sloshed group dinner or romantic enough for a "Lady and the Tramp"-style date.
