NoPa artist co-op has everything from paintings to jewelry.. Small, well-lit, and inviting, Big Umbrella Studios seems more like a friend's lower-level apartment than an art gallery. With tile floors, a small fireplace, and a dog that greets guests at the door, Big Umbrella doubles as both a gallery and a studio for the 20 artists who show their work here. While most of the pieces--ink drawings, oil paintings, jewelry made from recycled metals--sit safely on the side of accessible to the common art enthusiast, some of the work are a bit too esoteric/bizarre. The collection rotates on a semi-regular schedule, which usually falls around the second Friday of each month. Join the party, drink some wine, eat some cheese, and dig the DJ.

An artist cooperative, Big Umbrella Studios showcases everything from photography to jewelry from local, up-and-coming artists.. While most of the pieces -- ink drawings, oil paintings, jewelry made from recycled metals -- sit safely on the side of accessible to the common art enthusiast, some of the work -- just a cardboard box, really!? -- are a bit esoteric. The collection rotates on a semi-regular schedule, which usually falls around the second Friday of each month. Join the party, drink some wine, eat some cheese, and dig the DJ.
