Get your health food to go at this Laurel Village eatery.. It's a safe bet that yo-yo dieters would stay on the wagon if they were relying on the healthy, gourmet, portion-controlled wares of this Laurel Heights shop rather than the frozen, tasteless microwaveables from Lean Cuisine and Nutri-System. The light-filled corner cafe is built for function over fashion: the slightly sterile space (colored sporadically with bouquets of flowers) has few tables, but you'll likely be taking the food--by-the-pound salads and proteins from behind the glass deli case or pre-packaged single serving meals along a wall near the back--to go. Don't think the meal options are simply fruit salads and steamed chicken: Thai beef curry over quinoa, baked falafel wraps, spinach ricotta lasagna, shelling bean ragout and shiitake brown rice follow breakfast offerings like oatmeal soufflé and seasonal frittatas. The variety is enough to keep even Oprah in a size 8.
