Inner Sunset restaurant serves Thai dishes without kitsch..
Some Thai restaurants give a full, if kitschy, cultural experience a la Khan Toke (where you take off your shoes and eat on the floor); some, like Soi Gow, offer authentic Thai flavor without the mis-matched socks embarrassment. Neutral colors, a short wine bar and tiny two-top tables create more of a hotel lobby feel than a traditional Thai eatery, but the menu carries all the usual suspects: stir-fried noodles, spicy curries and grilled meats, as well as some Indian-inspired creations like Thai samosas. For simple dishes without the teak-and-embroidery furnishings or Southeast Asian pop soundtrack, this Inner Sunset resto is the spot; to feel like you're in Chiang Mai without actually going, you may want to look elsewhere.
