I HATE THIS PLACE!. Let me start by saying I so desperately want to like Sloane. The atmosphere, size, music, the bartenders, and the location are all great. Despite all of this I have been there twice and had horrible experiences both times. I usually write short reviews, but I feel like people need to know all of this.

Night #1: I show up around 10:30pm with my female friend. Our friend was DJing and he put us on his guest list. The bouncers inform us that though we are on the list, we have to stand in normal line anyway. Ok. I text my friend and he tells me to ask for Finess or Donny. I do. A bouncer directs me to the wrong guy on purpose. Thanks ass bag. I find Donny and he tells me to stand in a separate line where we are 3rd and 4th in line. They proceed to let around 40 people in the other line in, before I text my friend again. He sends down his friend to let us in. I overhear Donny tell the guy “those girls were here, but they must have left” and so I interrupt and say “umm I have been standing here in this line for over 20 mins like you told me to.” At this point we have been outside for about 40 mins. We finally get in and bitch to the bartender who gives us free drinks for our troubles. Thank you bartender! I forget your name but you are the only saving grace of this hell hole of an establishment.

Night #2: I am forced to go here again for a birthday party. My friend knew about my horrible experience here the first time, so we show up at 9:30pm. We are on a list because the girl has a table reserved. We were supposed to be in the table section upstairs, but they decide instead to shove our 30-person party to ½ of the down stairs table area. The couch can literally only fit 3 people and it is perpendicular to another table that is reserved for someone else. We try to complain to River, the bouncer of the upstairs table area. We explain that we have been specifically promised a table upstairs. He says there is nothing he can do, because someone after us reserved the whole upstairs. That is news to us! He told us he can give us 6 wristbands for upstairs. Thanks for nothing! We end up spending the whole night intermixed with the regular crowd even though we paid for bottle service.

Bottom line: Avoid this place like herpes!

Citysearch Editorial Review. Sloane, from the team that opened Vessel and Fluid, is a bar disguised as a club disguised as a bar, in the space formerly known as Duplex. In other words, a good place to go when you don’t really know what kind of night you want to have. The abundant exposed brick, beautiful redwood bar and 20-foot ceilings--not to mention the chandelier made of 5000 tiny bottles--are pleasingly handsome, while the blue-lit, three story smoking room at the back recalls a science fiction movie. But, fantasies aside, Sloane seems to have many of the annoying parts about a club--long lines at the door and expensive drinks--but is lacking the amenity for which people endure these things: dancing. The DJs are good and the elevated DJ booth is a sight to behold, but without a dance floor, it’s all desire and no release.
