Best in the World status given to several dishes. We enjoy this restaurant more than their big sister restaurant Lotus in San Rafael. The food is very memorable. The saag paneer, and chicken tikka masala are among the best. The pesto garlic naan is a very tasty and thin. The deserts, except the gulab jamin, and not to best missed.

Not group friendly for lunch. After 9 visits to this restaurant I thought our lunch group had found a regular place, no more heading to San Rafael when we have our Indian curry cravings. The food wasn't a good as our favorite place in San Rafael, but it was just around the corner and consistently decent. But alas disappointment was also just around the corner. When we got our bill for our $9 buffet we found that no only had they charged us 20% for a tip, but charged sales tax on that tip! (making it almost $12 per person) This might be legal (which is what the owner insisted) but ridiculous for a serve yourself buffet. We are again making the drive to San Rafael or Petaluma for Indian, where the food is higher quality, more selections, better seating, and more appropriate pricing policies for buffet lunches.

Citysearch Editorial Review. After successful years with price-friendly Indian eateries in San Raphael and Fairfax, this family business is now in upscale, Old Town Novato. A spacious interior conveys a sense of dining in someone's manicured living room, with elegant Indian prints and music throughout. Northern Indian dishes, like slow-baked tandoori and lamb or seafood curries, dominate the menu. There are nine varieties of house-made naan to harmonize with sauces like hot green mint and sweet tamarind. Pistachio-studded saffron ice cream cools the palate after dinner. It might not be worth driving across the county for, but that's exactly the point--this is your go-to neighborhood spot for quality Indian food, nothing more or less.
