Chic antiques and curious home decor in Potero Hill..
Interior designer Will Wick (Wick Design) looks a little like Indiana Jones, though instead of a whip he uses an auction paddle to procure antique, vintage and current curiosities from Europe, Latin America and around the world. At his retail shop Battersea, Wick’s collection and design point of view is on handsome display, from the mounted elk’s head made entirely from driftwood, to a free-standing French zinc soaking tub, to the fully-restored, 1951, Ferrari-red Agusta motorcycle (talk about tying a room together). Lighting is a subtle focus of his interest, including masculine wood chandeliers and turn-of-the-century industrial pulley lamps formed from copper, rope and mercury glass. Look for distinctly British pieces, Italian mid-Century, and choice objets from the American South.
