Located in the heart of a Japantown strip mall and just steps from the Sundance Kabuki Theater, this bistro is a quick, inexpensive version of the original Bushi-Tei up the block. Although the menu is neither expansive or innovative, it does offer Japanese, American, and Italian cuisines, so there’s something for even the pickiest of eaters. The food--sushi rolls, sashimi, clam chowder, and an assortment of pastas--is affordable, but hardly memorable, though the friendly staff is eager to please. However broad and reasonably priced the menu is, each dish is an unimaginative version of itself, and that coupled with the lack of atmosphere makes Bushi-Tei a poor choice, even amongst Japantown's dismal array of restaurants.
