Traci does good color! – I love Traci and this great little salon. I just moved to SF and needed a stylist ASAP and this has quickly become my spot. I also got a great new cut!
Wonderful place – I've been coming to Firehorse for several years now, almost from the day Tracy opened. From the first cut from her I've been hooked. It's the best cut I've gotten at any salon in San Francisco. To top it off, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the location is central to everything.
Great TLC and attention to detail – I have been getting my hair cut by Ashley for years and am delighted she has found a home at the Firehorse- it's the perefect blend of things you want in a salon: hip but not pretentious, spacious but not full of empty spaces, tons of character but nothing that detracts from the haircut. There is good camaraderie between stylists, and it's super easy to get to. Plus, it's kind of cool checking out the local artists they display on their walls.
But it's not about the art! It's about the cut. Ashley will shower you with TLC like no other- incredibly careful, great attention to detail, cares, really cares, about the cut. She actually pays as much attention to your feelings about the cut as to the technical success of it.
She will strategize with you before the cut and check in with you after. She has adapted to all sorts of hair altering events in my life- pregnancy, new baby, new job, you name it. She's even encouraged me to try things I wouldn't have thought of when I'm in the mood for a new look.. You can't beat the value- that kind of attention anywhere else is at least a $95 dollar cut.
Great haricuts in a hip, relaxing atmosphere – I have been going to Tracy for about a year and a half now. I have had alot of trouble finding someone who understood how to cut wavy/curly hair, but Tracy gets it! I even go in there when I need someone to fix my hair for a special occasion, like a wedding or party (so I don't want to have to worry about doing it myself). In short, she listens to what you want and does it. There's no "too cool for you attitude" and reasonable prices. Another perk, drinks while you wait!
Best Haircut in The City - Arthur at Firehorse – I've been going to see Arthur at Firehorse Salon for years now and he is the best hairstylist in San Francisco. I've lived in many cities both stateside and abroad and never had as good a haircut in all my travels. When I first moved to the city I went to many upscale barber shops and salons but once I first went to Arthur all of that stopped. He's creative yet conscientious and gives a great haircut each time. You can spend more money, and I have, but never get the attention to detail he will give you. A good haircut means a lot to me so this review comes with much thought and sincerity. Arthur is the best so wait for an appointment. He cuts men's and women's hair and as a footnote to his talents he also happens to be a friendly, honest and overall fun guy.
Art-rich, modern hair salon defined by a refreshing lack of attitude. – In Short
More working art studio than salon in look and feel, this spacious, sleek, functional venue plays host to cutting-edge Bay Area creative stylists and their patrons. Cuts tend toward sexy, razored, face-framing looks with modern bangs. Colors range from elegant to experimental. Streamlined, contemporary furnishings can be displaced to house art shows, discos and other neighborhood events. Prices run from $50-70 for cut and blow dry for men and women.
