In Short – More working art studio than salon in look and feel, this spacious, sleek, functional venue plays host to cutting-edge Bay Area creative stylists and their patrons. Cuts tend toward sexy, razored, face-framing looks with modern bangs. Colors range from elegant to experimental. Streamlined, contemporary furnishings can be displaced to house art shows, discos and other neighborhood events. Prices run from $50-70 for cut and blow dry for men and women.
Traci does good color!

I love Traci and this great little salon. I just moved to SF and needed a stylist ASAP and this has quickly become my spot. I also got a great new cut!
- Pros: color and cut were perfect, organic products
- Cons: getting an appointment
Wonderful place

I've been coming to Firehorse for several years now, almost from the day Tracy opened. From the first cut from her I've been hooked. It's the best cut I've gotten at any salon in San Francisco. To top it off, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the location is central to everything.
- Cons: Parking is hard
Great TLC and attention to detail
by amydbaker
I have been getting my hair cut by Ashley for years and am delighted she has found a home at the Firehorse- it's the perefect blend of things you want in a salon: hip but not pretentious, spacious but not full of empty spaces, tons of character but nothing that detracts from the haircut. There is good camaraderie between stylists, and it's super easy to get to. Plus, it's kind of cool checking out the local artists they display on their walls.
But it's not about the art! It's about the cut. Ashley will shower you with TLC like no other- incredibly careful, great attention to detail, cares, really cares, about the cut. She actually pays as much attention to your feelings about the cut as to the technical success of it.
She will strategize with you before the cut and check in with you after. She has adapted to all sorts of hair altering events in my life- pregnancy, new baby, new job, you name it. She's even encouraged me to try things I wouldn't have thought of when I'm in the mood for a new look.. You can't beat the value- that kind of attention anywhere else is at least a $95 dollar cut.
Highly recommended:)
