Alex is THE EXPERT in long layers.. I live in Manhattan and Alex lives in the Bay Area yet only Alex cuts my hair. I have flown across the country with the primary goal of having my long layers cut by a master. I'm not kidding. Alex is so precise in placing layers so that my super long, thick, slightly wavy hair falls exactly how I like it and because his cutting is so good, I'm pretty much a wash-and-go girl. All I do is I let my hair dry naturally in a twist over my shoulder. It's also cool how Alex can cut my hair so that I can part it on either side, or in the middle, or diagonally and it will look great. I don't know what it is but with other stylists, if I tried to change the part to other side from where it was when they cut it, my hair would look lopsided and chunky in places. With Alex my hair is always how I want it - feels light even though it's super long, falls into place just right!

Oh and if you love that super-sleek straight look after a cut then you'll want Alex as your new best friend. He's a serious Obi-wan Kenobi with the blow dryer. Pay attention to his technique when he does it you can replicate it at home. With a great cut from Alex, I don't need to blowdry but when I want that super straight and shiny look at least I now know how to do it right and it's from Alex's simple but precise technique. I told him he should be giving classes on it.

This salon is in a nice location too, just a block from union square so when I visit the city I can get my hair done and spend the rest of the day shopping before dinner and a night out.

PS - Alex is super cool and friendly too =)
