Go during lunch for incredible combo plate deals. Indulge in their generous salsa bar & perfectly-fried chips. Happy hour offers amazing margarita deals.
Margarita Heaven. This spot has all the mexican staple foods: tacos, burritos, tortilla soup, enchiladas, and margaritas! They also have some great unique dishes with a mexican spin as well. The margaritas come in many different flavors, and the beers on tap are good as well. This is a good spot to hit up before or after a movie at the Metreon which is very close by.
Incredible Mexican food. I rarely give a full five stars, but this place is consistently great. I always get the scallops with potatoes and chorizo and it's to die for. They have various margaritas to choose from, all of which have unique flavors. Everything I've eaten here has been excellent. Great place for dinner, a date or just happy hour.
So good Burrito!!. Tucked away from the road slightly, Tropisueno was recomended by co-workers for their Tacos and Burritos. So good! Went here on Cinco de Mayo, and was a little worried it would take forever for our food, but although the place was packed, they were also very efficient with their service. Best part though was the food! Every person in our party practically licked their plates! Fresh, fairly fast, and really great mexican. I also recomend the "Hybiscus juice" if you want a non-alchoholic option. I wish I could drink a glass of that refreshing stuff right now....
A Great Find. I have been to Tropisueno for after work cocktails and for lunch. Both times were very different and very enjoyable. Lunch is a stand-in-line-and-order deal, whereas dinner (or snacks at the bar) are served. Doesn't matter how you get the food it is WONDERFUL. The happy hour $2 tacos are to die for. The salsas and guacamole are very tasty. The regular chicken burrito was more than enough food - and it was delicious. And the margaritas are out of this world!!!!
Great after- work happy hour. Great appetizers, fun and freindly staff ,and even better margaritas! Clean and inviting - call ahead to reserve for large parties. Great salsas and chips.. quesadillas - so yummy!
Awesome, Strong Margaritas. I had a really great time with co-workers at Tropisueno on a Wednesday night! There were lots of people dining and we had the strongest, delicious margaritas with awesome treats-scallops, shrimp, toquitos all of it was excellent. We needed a yummy mexican food place, nearby so I'm so happy Tropisueno is here.
Best Mexican Food in San Francisco - Great drinks and FUN!.
This place tops my list of FAVORITE Mexican food in San Francisco! This place had me at first bite. The chips are so good, served hot and fresh, the salsas... to die for, the tacos... should i keep going ??
The concept rocks, taqueria by day and restaurant and bar at night... The owners are great, friendly and so is the staff. Its nice to see a establishment so dedicated to people really having a good time with great food and drink! I know you haven't seen or heard from me in a while, its because I'm hanging at Tropisueno!
Excellent Authentic Mexican Food in an Inviting Atmosphere. This authentic Mexican restaurant is a great place to take a date or to pass the evening with family and friends. The ambience is warm and inviting and the staff is hospitable. And, of course, the food is excellent, while at the same time reasonably priced. Along with the sizeable main courses come home-made guacamole, salsa, and chips. The guest is free to either dine at a traditional table-and-chair/booth setup or, for a bit more privacy, in curtained booths that are set back into the restaurant's walls. If you prefer a few aperitivos, along with drinks, you may also sit at the L-shaped bar, where you can look out over the other diners and absorb the semi-rustic ambience. And if you like margaritas, you must try the so-named mestizo, a robust yet smooth margarita that is carefully poured in layers and served on the rocks, with chili salt dusted on the rim. My date and I went one step further and ordered a dessert consisting of a medley of fruit, carmel-flavored Mexican yogurt, and fondue-style chocolate dip--despite how full we were, we could not resist! As for logistics, there is a large parking garage located less than a block away, and one must realize that the restaurant is somewhat tucked away on the backside of the Marriott hotel.
Walk-up taqueria by day, sit-down Mexican resto by night--the concept behind this Union Square eatery is a novel one even in SF..
Whoever said you can't have your cake (or rather, burrito) and eat it, too, hasn't been to Tropisueno. In an effort to have it all, this Jalisco-influenced dining destination on Yerba Buena Lane transforms from a casual counter service spot suring the day, a sit-down restaurant in the evening, and a bar later at night. For lunch, the Tropisueno is a simple taqueria where nearby office-folk walk up to the counter to order tacos and burritos. After the workday is over, the restaurant opens for a full-service dinner with an extensive modern Mexican menu featuring a few Spanish and Latin American twists: ceviches, fried plantains with black beans, and family-style seafood dishes. And after hours, cocktails are served--particularly to industry locals who get a free drink with their paycheck stub--at the prominent bar.
