Deriving its name from the Japanese word for cocoon, this San Francisco yoga studio boasts a diverse menu of classes.
Editor's Tips
- Parking:
- Street parking is easy to find all the time except during M-F 9am & 12:30pm classes. For these classes, frequent the Potrero Center one block east where there is a 3-hour limit.
Great Yoga Classes

I've been attending her classes for over 3 years and have progressed without being pushed too hard - she gives more challenging options to extend various poses (though I know my limitations!) . Good workout and fun atmosphere.
Regardless of experience level, Gisella manages to provide instruction and challenge. She will provide inidividual attention - addditional stretches & corrections to poses without making people feel singled out.
Beautiful premises, lots of space and easy parking.
- Pros: gisella's hands-on style
- Cons: none
Great space, great yoga!

I am so glad that Gizella has opened up Yoga Mayu. She is an exceptional teacher - knowledgable, unassuming, down to earth and interactive. The studio is in a wonderful space and offers a great yoga experience for all levels - from first timers to yogis who have been practicing for many years. Gizella, and the other teachers, challenge and take good care of everyone.
- Pros: Great location, great teachers, great space, great schedule.
- Cons: Parking can be difficult at certain times of day but you can park in the Potrero center parking lot just a few blocks away.

Zen feel, personalized attention, great tea, easy parking

Its nice to go somwhere in SF with my car and not have to arrive 20 minutes early to find a parking spot. In the two classes I've taken there, I relished the personal attention I got from two very experienced teachers. And afterward, the ability to enjoy freshly brewed tea with no hurry to move out was greatly appreciated.

Yoga Mayu is a new yoga studio in the Mission District. Is a great space, very spacious, clean and full of natural light. The decor is simple and modern, yet very warm and welcoming.
No matter if you are new to yoga or if you have practiced it for many years, at Yoga Mayu you will find professional and experienced instructors who will give you lots of personal attention and great tips to improve your practise.
I have attended Gizella's classes (the founder and director) for years and always loved her way of teaching and adjustments, but I have recently tried two other teachers, Nadine Johnson and Laura Noss, and I found them extremely professional and fun at the same time.
My experience at Yoga Mayu has been extremely positive.
