Worst Service Ever!!!!!. What ever you do, never take your computer to a Geek Squad if you are in need of computer repair. They are nothing but a rip off.

My story begins with one of my office computers just basically taking a dump. It happened to be the computer used by my office manager who basically does everything. I was in a bind and needed this computer fixed as fast as possible. My last IT guy had passed away and I didn't have anyone to take it to, so I thought I would give Best Buy and Geek Squad a try. I really wished I hadn't.

I got to the store and had to wait 40 minutes before being helped. Then I was told I needed to pay $199 to just have the puter looked at. Reluctantly I consented, worst thing I ever did!.

I had to call them after 3 days because I hadn't heard anything, they told me that my hard drive needed to be replaced and I would need to pay $99 more and that I also needed to back up my data which they also charged me for. I think in all I spent like $400. When I finally got the computer back in my office I found that my Wi Fi was not working. I called Geek Squad back and they said there was nothing they could do. But I had paid $199 for this service I was suppossed to get, but they couldnt help me with this thing they had totally messed up!

I finally called in an IT guy that I found and he came in and took my hard drive. He found out that there was nothing wrong with it, it didn't need to be replaced. When I went back to GS they said to bad, were aren't refunding your money. I would even give them the new hard drive back. This company sucks and has terrible awful customer service and computer techs. Somebody high up really needs to do an overhaul of this division of the company!!!!!!!!!!! Never go here!!!!!!!!!!!

Geek Squad Alternative. At one point or another we all need computer repair help and I am no different. I found myself in need at the worst possible moment. In the middle night, when everything is closed and the night before a report is due. I called Geek Squad online support for help and was charged for the $199 virus removal service. They connected to my pc and attempted to remove the problem. After a couple of hours and a whole lot of coffee and nail biting they call me back and say there is nothing they can do. This time, the guy I spoke to had a heavy accent and seemed to be calling from overseas. And long with this and the fact they said the virus is too embedded to be removed without causing further damage and system instability. I get off the disappointing phone call and am still sweating because this report is 35% of my overall grade in this course and I absolutely had to have this done in the morning. I run a quick Google search for a solution when I find SecureRemoteSupport[dot]com who provides online services and have a “No Fix No Pay” guarantee. Wow that would be nice if Geek Squad offered the same promise. Within an hour they had diagnosed the virus and had removed it completely for $105. And best of all, I didn’t lose any of my work and my operating system was completely repaired. Apparently the Geek Squad isn’t as good at their job as secureremotesupport[dot]com is. I really appreciate their diligence on fixing my issue and suggest others think twice before contacting Geek Squad to fix their computer.

Not worth your time. I took my macintosh computer to Geek Squad for some help and received no service at all. I stood at the counter for over 10 minutes before I had to find someone on my own to help me. They were not even from the computer repair department. It was one of the Best buy sales people. When she finally found a geek squad person to help me they seemed annoyed that I was even there. By the end of the conversation I left feeling like I had just been looked down upon by being a mac owner. All he kept saying if you purchased a PC you wouldn't have to pay expensive prices for expensive parts. It felt like he was shoving me towards the sales person so I wouldnt bother him any longer. I left without having anything done to my computer and had to find someone else to help me with my issues. I called secure remote support and ended up shipping my macbook to them and I had it back within 7 days. It was quick and painless and was like a third the cost of the geek squad.
