What People Are Saying About High Tide

Featured Review

There is a certain utility to the Hi Tide. It has parts that function and others that don’t. The TV at one end of the bar is dependably blurry while the other presents sports in stunning HD. That’s the duality of the Hi Tide, where your experience can be transcendent, degrading or both. Luxuries evade this TL bar, the chief amenities being a full bar of cheap, below-market booze, six filthy taps, a pool table, and a decent jukebox, while the dilapidated booths held together with duct tape give it the feeling of a dive, even though it's something more, or less.

Know Before You Go:
The hours appeal to a very specific crowd in the morning so be weary of career drinkers continuing their buzz from evening(s) prior.

Down & Dirty

by dinkelspieler at Citysearch

It's dingy, it's dirty, but it's the last place you'll get to smoke freely to your lungs content. Drinks not as cheap as they used to be, but still a fair price. The grasp of english may not be the strongest aspect of the staff skill-set, but they sure are friendly, in a very touchy feely kind of way. Don't use the restroom unless you have your pocket mask and latex gloves with you.

  • Pros: Touchy Feely Staff
  • Cons: The restroom's a Schtinker

no fuss dive

by bubblet at Citysearch

The drinks are cheap at this good ol' dive bar. The decor is delightfully tacky and the crowd is unpretentious and extremely diverse (or sometimes odd). The odd transient wanders in to bother the customers but the Korean woman who owns the place is quick to usher them out. She and her sister are great with the crowd and kept us laughing all night. Definitely a place to go when you're not dressed up and thirsty for a drink or 5 on a small budget.

  • Pros: cheap, fun, diverse
  • Cons: it's a bit shabby

Unlimited Potential

by ChrisWilliams at Citysearch

Yeah, there were a lot of old birds in here, but lots of good gals like Charlotte and CJ that livened the place up. Keith Darso runs a golf game in the back that's fun after a few years. Nah, it ain't lame, it cool. Yeah.

  • Pros: Beer, Keith Darso, Christa
  • Cons: Old Birds, Parking, Lines

Culturally advanced

by JimmyNaylor at Citysearch

Hands down the most accepting and friendly bar in the Tenderloin. Gays, Asians, Hispanics, Africans, and drunks all together having a wonderful time. African American wrestler Vance Wolgamott even bought me a drink. So much fun. Everyone check it out. Chow!

  • Pros: Gay Friendly, Ethnic Friendly, Celebs
  • Cons: none
