Great Sushi, Great Value, Friendly People.
I've been to Tataki many times seeing as I live two blocks down. I take everyone here who enjoys high quality sushi at a reasonable price. The chefs Ray and Kin are fun to talk to if you sit at the sushi bar. The wait staff is friendly and eager to explain Tataki's sustainable concept. Even the decor of the restaurant is fashioned from sustainable materials. If you like spicy the Dynamite roll is a must try. The rest of the specialty rolls are well thought out and most importantly, delicious. And the sashimi is some of the best I've had in the city. It usually gets busy around 9 or so Thursday through Saturday and it only seats about 20. This is a great little neighborhood spot.

Sushi goes green (in a good way) at this bare-bones Japanese restaurant with a conscience..
This petite Pacific Heights sushi joint has all the standard fare--edamame, seaweed salad, maguro nigiri and chirashi sushi, to name a few--but the specials and seasonal items are the real draw. Fish and seafood enthusiasts can enjoy unusual selections like arctic char or almaco jack as sashimi or nigiri, or try it as one of the Tataki specials. And no one has to leave feeling guilty: The restaurant has a regular consultant with Fish Wise, an organization that makes sure their seafood selection is environmentally sustainable. The menu changes seasonally as they vary the selection of fish in order to maintain environmental standards.
