view & uploadgood south Indian food. My experience here was a little strange. The place is small and it wasn't very busy when I was there, so given those factors, I thought the service was kind of slow. It was fragmented. I waited for them to seat me. Then I had to wait for a menu. Then someone put an empty glass on the table. Several minutes went by before someone put water in the glass. Then I waited for someone to take my order. That said, I enjoyed the sada rava dosa. Very crispy. I enjoyed the coconut chutney and the tomato chutney. The third chutney, I'm not even sure what was in it. It was slightly sweet and I didn't like it as much as the other two. Not surprisingly, I had to sit and wait to get the check while the waitperson chatted with the people at the next table and then had to wait to get change. My best advice is don't be in a hurry.
food is that outstanding!.
I'm new to trying to keep myself in shape and healthy, and by the time the New Year comes up, I know I'll be well ahead of the game.
This restaurant was recommended to me by my co-worker. Last month, I ate dinner here and hands down, this is the best vegetarian food I have ever had for under $40.00. There's definitely some love going into this food, because it is simply outstanding!
I have eaten almost everything on the menu, as I've been a once a week type patron since, and all of what I have eaten has been standouts, without any disappointment whatsoever! My personal favorite is their Vegetable Korma (fresh vegetables cooked in cream and mild spices) and Tamarind Rice (how sick is that? oh so good!). My husband favors the Mysore Masala Dosa (spiced crepe with potatoes schmeared inside with spicy chutney), that's very good too.
It seems the restaurant has been written-up everywhere because I've been seeing a lot of mention about them on local papers too. Good for them though because the food is that outstanding!
yummy dosas.

Citysearch Editorial Review. If your body is a temple but your wallet is a ghost town, the reasonably priced and vegetarian plates at this humble South Indian spot in the mission may be your holyland. Whirring ceiling fans stir the smell of spices coming from the kitchen, while Hindu artwork, mini-shrines, and lack of alcohol make this place feel authentic and pious. Known for their uthappams and especially dosa--and surreptitiously close to the upscale South Indian restaurant, Dosa--Udupi's spiced veggie dishes are drenched in sauces flavorful enough (sambar, cocnut chutney, chettinad masala) to appease even devout carnivores--or even convert them.
