I just want to move in here, the coffee, the vibe, the back patio, the people, the music, the coffee.
Four Barrel coffee and treats. While many bars in the Mission are flooded with people glued to their laptops, Four Barrel is a nice reminder that coffee shops should be a social space. With well-sourced and delicious coffee, Four Barrel is the perfect spot for a casual business meeting or gossip session with your buds. The outdoor seating and delicious treats (maple-bacon dynamo donuts!) is the whipped cream on my mocha.
rocking good coffee. this is a very good coffee shop with animals on the walls
beer ice cream. I can't remember the name of this dessert but it was to die for!!! Beer ice cream (i think it was) with a shot of espresso over the top..............who came up with this?? It is wonderful.
wow coffee!. Wow! I've never seen anything like it. I am impressed with the place. It is huge which makes it unique compared to starbucks or peets coffee around the corner. Customer service is very good too and of course their coffee mocha is the best. Overall, it is a great concept!
Great coffee. Big fan of Four Barrel! Their soy lattes provided me with a much needed Monday morning jolt and was strong enough to power me through the day. I really like the quality of their coffee and the actual shop is huge and welcoming. I get the sense that the barristas really know their stuff and are coffee connoisseurs.5 stars for Four Barrel!
Great coffee, but that's about it. A great classic cup of coffee costs next to nothing here, which is great if you want to drink and run. Plan on staying a while? Not with your laptop, you're not. In the gigantic warehouse setting, complete with exposed rafters and a Goliath coffee roaster near the back, you'd think they would have something besides coffee, but you'd be wrong. Walk up to the cold, modern counter, order, pay and get pushed out in less than 30 seconds. Small individual-sized tables jet out from the walls accompanied by stainless steel chairs. Blue Bottle has their espresso, Ritual Roasters has their cult-following of hipsters, and Four Barrel tries to do it all. Unfortunately, they only really succeed at the great coffee part, and I guess the Dynamo Donuts really do help their business (if you haven't tried them before, I suggest the maple bacon).
"All about the coffee" taken too far ....
More of the Ritual hipster scene without the good service and wi-fi. Yeah, it's all about the coffee, but it's not ALL about the coffee. No comfortable seating. No credit cards. No food. Disinterested service. And did I mention no wi-fi? Plus, too many cool people. Where are the common folk?
And those boar heads on the wall just creep me out.
This warehouse-sized coffee house and boutique roaster in the innermost Mission eschews the myriad amenities of the typical SF cafe for a limited menu of cult-favorite coffees and beans.. If the modern coffeehouse is a cluttered and crowded combination of WiFi'd workspace, sandwich counter, open-mic-and-cheap-beer happy hour, Four Barrel is the stripped-down post-modern incarnation: no Internet, no panini, no warbly Wonderwall covers or $2 Sierras; just coffee. The rough-hewn open rafters, wood-beam tables and retro metal classroom chairs give the space an industrial feel, while a row of mounted boars' heads above the sugar and milk station provide cheek. Coffee purists will dig the simple menu--coffee, espresso, americano, macchiato, cappucino, cafe au lait, latte, mocha and iced coffee--and seeing Portland's famous Stumptown beans being roasted just a few feet behind the La Mistral where they're turned into drinks. The only non-coffee products on sale are Dynamo Donuts, which are artisanally made with flavors like maple bacon and caramel fleur de sel, and might just be the post-modern version of the dunkable snack.
