BEWARE: BE PROACTIVE INVESTIGATE YOUR MOVING COMPANY – Deserves 0 stars!!! SM&S Relocation (also known as “SMS Moving” and formerly known as “Survivors Moving”, “Better Way to Move Moving & Storage” and various other business names prior to 2008) has failed in all aspects. First the movers were over three hours late at pick up. Second, they required signing an estimate PRIOR to any weighing for a “maximum fee”, which the movers stated was required by law. The balance between the initial payment and this “maximum” became the balance due at delivery (again regardless of the actual weight). The itemized charges provided did not add up to the total charge. There was a 9% fee for stairs WITH NO stairs in any part of the move. An additional $150 was charged for materials and NO MATERIALS belonging to the company were used other than the two standard pads owned by the company used to wrap two pieces of wooden furniture, which per the estimate the quote included: “Free use of moving pads to cover and protect your wooden furniture”. All tape, boxes, everything else used belonged to me and was purchased by me. Per the estimate the “minimum” job fee quoted was $707.05 with the disclaimer of “total cost will be based on the actual weight/Cubic Foot of your shipment and any additional services performed”. There was no consideration of actual services provided or weight in the amount I was charged. The movers were rude, forceful, demanding, intimidating, and threatening. Upon delivery, more than two weeks later, two pieces of large furniture (the items they purportedly wrapped in their two pads) were completely destroyed and glass collectibles packed inside boxes were broken in pieces alluding to the fact that there was NO CONCERN given to “Fragile” “Glass” warnings marked in bold on the face of the boxes. Cash only was required upon delivery. If unable to provide the cash balance at delivery the movers threatened to leave with the belongings, to return to the original source state, and charge an additional minimum $350 per day for storage. No phone calls were made to provide the balance at any time prior to delivery so it was automatically assumed and expected that on a Saturday the full balance in cash would be available. Again the movers were absolutely rude, intimidating, and threatening. They dismissed the ability to reclaim any compensation for damages and had very little care. I cannot count the amount of times I heard “I’m just the messenger” by different movers at both pickup and delivery. Upon contacting SM&S Relocation and requesting a detailed explanation of the total charges the “supervisor” hung up. The actions exhibited on behalf of SM&S Relocation (also known as “SMS Moving” and formerly known as “Survivors Moving”, “Better Way to Move Moving & Storage” and various other business names) and its employees and independent contractors, has left me with the only option of pursuing legal action and to ensure this complaint can be obtained by any potential future customers of the company.
Thank you We Are Moving Relocations – Referred by a friend, I was a little apprehensive about hiring movers for the first time. The ratings were helpful in pushing me over the edge, and in the end I can't imagine ever making a move without a company as efficient and professional as these guys.
The woman on the phone (Heather, I believe) was very helpful, informative, knew what she was talking about, and got me a move date and estimate that was accurate and itemized. It was a pleasure. She sent out an information packet as promised and had be clear on all the steps and responsibilities.
When the movers arrived (I'll have to look up their names) last sunday, they started immediately and had me moved across town in 4 hours. (Efficiency comparison: my roommate with 8 friends present took twice as long just to *load* their rental truck. Ok, unfair comparison as nobody present did this for a living).
I still have not found anything damaged and they even helped me move a few larger pieces of furniture out to the curb for pickup. It was a very positive experience which left me elated. This might be my first 5-star review!
BTW - When i asked about a couple of negative reviews i read the women over the phone said they are fake reviews posted by other movers - after watching them work, i believe it!
RU Kidding me? – OMG-NO NO WAY! Five star???? LMAO!!!! Used these guys in Sept. 2008. and did not do any research! !

BEWARE-They go under many many different names in the Bay Area. stevens moving, a better way to move, we are moving inc. CHS transportation-the list is endless!!!! Go to YELP, google, etc. and read all the reviews that are ONE star-same story/scenario in each case, just different reviewers. If they tell you they are members of BBB-that is a lie also-that is a link to the LA area business.

SCAMMERS!!! – This company is such liars and scammers. Do not believe any of the positive reviews. Ron Bar, the owner, even gloats that he tells his employees to put good reviews on here. They quote you a low price and jack it up once they have your belongings. They are not legally permitted to move anyone or get money for it in Ca because of a suspended PUC permit since 10/13/2008. They were fined in May 2008 by the FMCSA for such violations like :holding shippers' household goods hostage, operating without proper legal authority, failing to follow tariff requirements, failing to provide shipper information, and failing to keep proper records. They lie about weight documents. They will rush you into signing blank moving forms. They will do what they can to get as much money from you. The owner is Israeli. The FBI stats say that most moving company scams are done by Israeli. They go by many different names..Better Way To Move, Better Way 2 Move, CHS, Transportation, inc, ASAP Relocations, S Van Lines, SM&S, We Are Moving and Storage, moving Us Moving and Storage and the list continues .Do not be fooled by this company. They lie about everything and will say the bad reviews were from" a customer who was difficult from the beginning and no one could please them". They will also deny that they have many business names. Do not let them scam you.

i've had to move two times in the past year, and both times, i was lucky enough to get the same crew captain, issac. (yeah, yeah, i know).
issac was ~awesome~ - he remembered details about my furniture (such as how wonky my sofabed can be and the history of my folding desk) from the first time around that helped him be more efficient about it the second time around. both times, the crew has always been super hard working and incredibly polite.
based on how much i've moved in the past year, there are two super important lessons i've learned about moving:
1) i'm never gonna move my crap^H^H^H^H stuff with a rented uhaul, some friends and pizza ever again.
2) We Are Moving Relocations rules!
highly recommended *x5 – I've moved a ton of times and would highly recommend these guys. Aside from excellent service (on-time, on-schedule, no damage) They were actually professional and cared about providing good service. (What a concept!) I called a bunch of places where whoever answered the phone barked inarticulately at me and seemed to be doing me a big favor just to answer the phone.
We Are Moving Relocations came on-time, did a great job packing and didn't break anything. I understood the bill and all charges and when they left I felt like I had received quality service at a fair price...quite a statement for the moving business.
Don't even think about using another moving company :)
Great packing job – When I was planning this move I knew I could count on my friends for heavy lifting but we absolutely had no time to pack. So we decided to rent a truck and move ourselves but have professionals provide the materials and do the packing. I interviewed 3 moving companies. When Ron showed up to do the estimate he was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable. He gave me flexible options and presented quotes both for a complete move and for packing only. His quote fell in the middle of the three. Initially I almost hired the cheapest guy but he turned out to be a complete psycho (subject of another review), which once again confirmed for me that one should never make decisions based on price alone.
So we hired Ron and his guys. They gave me a fair price for packing, showed up on time, worked fast and treated our stuff *as if it was their own*. Everything got packed amazingly safe and not a single thing was lost or damaged. They ended up going over time but stuck to the promised fee and in fact REDUCED the price because they used less materials than estimated. They did such a great job that I felt compelled to bring the payment back up to the original estimate.
I will not hesitate to hire them again and will highly recommend them to anybody who asks.
satisfied and will use them again. – This moving company is awesome. After reading all the citysearch reviews I thought, I have got to give this place a call. I called their office, Joey answered the phone, i gave him an inventory of what I would be moving and he was very professional and gave me an estimate within seconds. $85 for three guys, a huge truck and all the wardrobe boxes you need!
On moving day, I was shocked at how fast they moved everything (and how strong they were). They finished my whole move in less than two hours (i paid 3) .
Yes,they're worth every penny, if you are going to hire movers go with we are moving.
The only reason i gave those guys 4 stars and not 5 is because they were 30 minutes late and no one called to let me know.
wonderful movers,great attitude – I've had the unfortunate displeasure of having to move 2 times in the past year. I have a lot of furniture, some of it antique and so I started off the first move by calling a big name moving company. They came over, gave me an estimate, and when the time came to schedule the move - they were not available anywhere near the date I needed. What a waste that was.
Called We are moving relocations next after reading reviews here, and from the start everything was smooth. Called joey and was able to pick the date and time of my move. The ability to choose date/time in itself is VERY important as most people are juggling two residences when they move so time is of the essence.
The boys came as scheduled and worked their asses off. They wrapped up any furniture that might break or scratch, took care in packing the truck, and put my items where-ever I needed in the new house. Both moves - and not a SINGLE thing broken. Adam in particular is very impressive - had him as "crew-chief" for both moves. I've never seen a guy his size lift so much - wow! Request him. Also, they can be very creative in moving big items through small staircases or whatever - it's obvious they have done this before!
All in all, We are moving is very reliable at a time when you are probably all stressed out. They work hard and are careful. What more do you really need from a mover?
Rates are reasonable too. 3 men at $80/hr,I added generous gratuity for each guy on top of that They have my future business for as long as they are in business themselves.

Joey explained everything completely and is totally customer-centric. Her kick-butt loading crew had our two-bedroom third floor apartment AND totally packed 8x10 storage room completely loaded, taken 40 miles and unloaded in eight hours (including lunch). They were so fast that they had to wait on the other movers who were loading up the house we were moving into -- and they started at the same time!
My wife and I are very, very happy with Adam and his professional crew. They wrapped up everything and took immediate and special care of anything you pointed out as requiring such attention. They care more about your stuff than you do. Not having to move ourselves by hiring these guys probably saved our marriage. :)
In short, hire these guys and you will not have to worry about a thing. They are not the cheapest but the service is unbeatable
