Citysearch Editorial Review. Look for acclaimed chef Dennis Leary, the one-man show behind Canteen in Nob Hill, behind the counter of this tiny, takeout-only breakfast-and-lunch spot in SoMa. Leary & Co whip up gourmand-grade goods like brioche blueberry muffins and a smoked salmon sandwich with horseradish mayo, fennel, watercress and mint, although it's the simpler corned beef sandwich on house-made bread that makes this place legendary. The no-seating situation is no problem, either; you'll find plenty at the nearby rooftop garden atop Crocker Galleria (50 Post St). Business is brisk and so is service--there's always a line during normal lunch hours, but chef Leary and his super efficient sandwich team move things along quickly.
