In this sleek, minimalist clothing boutique, owner Andrew Lee brings to San Francisco a range of edgy, high-end fashion straight from the streets of Tokyo and Hong Kong. Although at home alongside its boutique neighbors on Union Street, the entrance to Devil's Own is set a few steps below street level, which gives the storefront a distinctive edge. Inside, a flatscreen TV showing Japanese anime movies plays center stage around the racks of labels like A Bathing Ape, threeringcircus and Oraqle. Devil's Own carries both men's and women's casual wear like sneakers, designer jeans, T-shirts and messenger bags, as well as more formal items such as jackets, dresses and dress shirts. With bold geometric prints mounted on hangers alongside the clothing, and large pop-art pieces adorning the whitewashed walls, Devil's Own is part clothing store, part gallery in which the line between clothing and art is purposefully blurred.
