Dr. Turner is an incredible surgeon. I cannot stand people (ie the review posted on 10/29/07) that complain about a surgeon that did not talk to them during surgery. Are you there to have your vision corrected, or, are you there to make your surgeon your new best friend? Dr. Turner is a surgeon with over 35 years of experience. When choosing a surgeon for my own lasik, I chose Dr. Turner BECAUSE OF HIS EXPERIENCE AND DEDICATION TO REFRACTIVE SURGERY, not because I wanted to make him my new best friend. I thoroughly researched Dr. Turner and his practice. Every site had reviewers commenting on Dr. Turner's personality. Why, instead of reviewing his personality, don't you review his ability as a surgeon? Dr. Turner is by far, the best surgeon in Northern California. I had absolutely no problems with Dr. Turner. In fact, my surgery was quick, painless, and I was very satisfied with the level of professionalism and care exhibited by every member of Dr. Turner's staff. I followed up with Dr. Turner the day after my surgery, and guess what, he was so sweet! His ONLY concern was how I felt, and how I was seeing. He had an incredible amount of passion and dedication to his practice and to his patients. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience at the Turner Eye Institute. Thank you , Dr. Turner.
Turner Eye Institute.
3 key things happened that really seem bad to me:
1) Pre-surgery Dr. Turner didn't speak to me. At the last minute, they suggested epi-Lasik and another doctor came to discuss it with me. She never told me recovery can last at least 4-5 days and vision is often blurry for months. I was prepared for some "mild discomfort" but what happened was intense pain. My initial recovery took 9 days and I was unable to see for the first 4 and was in incredible pain. I lost many days of work. When we called the day after surgery to report I was experiencing alot of pain (on their "Emergency Line") we were told no one was there and the doctor wasn't available for 3 hours.
2) The machine went off in the middle of my surgery and Dr. Turner shouted at the nurse "what did you do!"...she said "I didn't do anything". It was incredibly scary and he didn't seem to get it that a patient might be concerned and need some information during surgery.
3) After surgery I was not given enough of the anti-inflammatory medication Accular. The girl who walked me through post surgery (while I was just out of surgery and in pain, mind you) said they had "run out".
It just seems to me that maybe they have too many patients and not enough time to give good care. And no one seems to be managing the place well or putting any systems in place that would improve it.
