Those unfamiliar with Nepalese food will find the menu here--served in a crimson dining room where mirrored bubbles separate red brick from red wall--filled with curries and kebabs in small portions, as well as momos (traditional steamed dumplings), pakodas and more. Weekend brunch is a bit more San Francisco than Kathmandu, with items ranging from crab cake eggs benedict to a goat cheese omelet with spinach to French toast with Chantilly and fresh fruit. –

Good for Happy Hour before 7

by LoveBelgianBeer

It is similar to Indian food but we tried some exotic dish like buffalo momos for appetizer and goat curry ??..of course who can walk out with out having chicken tikka masala and paratha bread.

The atmosphere was warm and cozy and they were playing afrofunk.

Best time to go before 7, they have happy hour half off on beers and wines. They do have good selection Belgian beers. I have to try their brunch at the patio.

  • Pros: Good wines and beers
  • Cons: Difficult Parking

Watch out!!

by jroksana

My husband and I went there for the first time tonight. The chicken inside of the chicken momos appetizer we got was COMPLETELY RAW!!! Unfortunately, we'd both eaten half a dumpling before we realized. We left immediately. We are praying we don't get sick. If the restaurant isn't able to cook chicken properly, I don't trust them with the rest of my meal.

Absolutely wonderful Nepalese food in a comfortable atmosphere with outstanding service!

by dmyers704

While visiting in San Francisco for the holidays, our group of four chose to dine at Metro Kathmandu. The entire experience was beyond expectations. The red color of the walls signifying happiness in the Nepalese culture set the atmosphere for a unforgetable dining experience. We were immediately greeted as we entered the restaurant and taken to our table. Water glasses were immediately filled and drink orders taken. Service was not only professional but very attentive.. We ordered appetizers and shared each others for a taste of all. Oh my goodness they were wonderful. Our entrees were absolutely a taste to treasured. Again we shared each other's choice as we sat and ooh'ed and aahed. We finished off our meal with the flourless carrot cake and mango ice cream. If you are particular about the quality of your food, try the Metro Kathmandu. You will agree dishes are prepared with the highest quality ingredients. Can't boast enough how great our meal was.
