YUM!

I first discovered Sweet Things in San Francisco in the 1980's - I lived on Green Street then and there was a Sweet Things on Fillmore at the time, just down from Union Street. I remember discovering their unbelievable eclairs and lemon bars - and this happened a couple of decades ago.
I believe the Sweet Things at Paradise Cove in Tiburon is the original Sweet Things (there is still a Sweet Things in SF, no longer on Fillmore). In any case, it's going strong - and with good reason. These are the kinds of baked goods that grandmas and moms and aunts used to make - think: the best possible ingredients lovingly combined. The croissants, scones, and muffins are all delicious. There's one muffin-like specialty called, I think, a "dirt bomb" or "dust bomb" that is a morning delight, with a hot cup of coffee or tea. The black magic cake is another one of their specialties - and who can forget their brownie triangles. They make great cookies, too, and I don't want to forget the special sugar cookies they make for various holidays and events. I particularly recall an easter confection topped by a nest motif that contained little speckled chocolate eggs. The children loved them. And I did, too.
Only downside is that it isn't a large shop and often, especially around holidays, there are lines out the door. It doesn't matter, Sweet Things is worth the wait. Best bakery in Marin.
- Pros: Fabulous cakes, pies, cookies, breakfast bakery. Top quality. Unrivaled.
- Cons: None.
