Overpriced and Rude Manager/owner

by visila at Citysearch

Took a date here and had the smallest portions imagined served. Overpriced is puting it mildly.

When we walked to the entrance the owner/manager stared us down and did not acknowledge us. Thought we were invisible. I said I wanted a table and he pointed! Pure arrogance! I don't think they want black customers in Farina!

My worst experience in my lifetime in a restaurant!

  • Pros: Good architecture
  • Cons: Rude, racist manager/owner, overpriced, tiny portions

overpriced, so-so.

by b00la at Citysearch

Small portions, $30 a plate average, $11 cocktail average, okay service (lots of water and bread served). Seated upstairs and it was a rare October humid/muggy evening and there was no ventilation other than the open door.

  • Pros: fancy, full of middle-aged hipster people
  • Cons: fancy, full of middle-aged hipster people + expensive

We had our wedding rehearsal at Farina. Gabriele- the manager-helped make the night perfect:) We had the private dinner room with attached roof top balcony. We couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect meal and atmosphere- all 45 of our guest couldn't stop singing their praise:) Thank you!!

Outstanding Northern Italian Cusine

by JoyceA at Citysearch

This restaurnat is outstanding and has never failed to let us down. We make the trip to the city from the Peninsula even in rush-hour traffic and have done so countless times since we 'found' them serving their authentic too special Focacia (like none other) at a charity event.

Farina's consistant and excellent quality food is prepared and served with attention to detail. The pasta is superb, the best outside of Genova, Italy, the menu and wine selections are diverse.

Attention to service from ALL of the staff has been unique, friendly and professional at the same time - and it doesn't matter whether you're dining mid-week or on a busy weekend.

  • Pros: Authentic and consistant
  • Cons: If there are any - it's worth it.

Farina - a terrible experience

by dog faced boy at Citysearch

I went there tonight with my wife for our anniversary. The whole fish I ordered was full of scales. I tried at least 5 bites and couldn't get past the scales each time.

The extremely arrogant manager, while he did take the fish off the bill, refused to comp us even a cup of coffee. He said that he was OK with losing customers!!?? I must say that the waitress was very nice and gave great service. It was the manager's attitude that prevents us from going there ever again.

  • Pros: Close to my house
  • Cons: The manager is horrendous
