Diabetes under control - Fantastic health benefits from working out with Ami.
I signed up for Ami's diet/exercise program in February 2008, after being told that my annual glucose test results put me in the diabetic range. Out of shape and not living an active lifestyle, I knew I needed help. With Ami's background (which includes a Master's Thesis on diabetes), motivation style, and (best of all) a home gym (privacy) - I knew she would be able to help me get my glucose down.
After just three short months of working out with Ami and following her suggested modifications to my eating habits, I had a follow-up test and was amazed with the results. Thanks to Ami, I had realized the following key benefits:
1. Lost 15 pounds and 15.5 inches, including 3" from the waist.
2. Fasting glucose level down 52 points (36%), moving me from the diabetic range down into the low pre-diabetes or borderline range, at just 3 points above normal.
3. Triglycerides down 134 points (a whopping 55%) and overall cholesterol down 58 points (26%)
4. Increased flexibility and strength.
My doctor was amazed. I avoided an official diagnosis of diabetes, have made a healthy lifestyle change w/ regard to my eating habits, am still working out with Ami regularly, have made walking & resistance training part of my home workouts, and - most important of all - I avoided being put on meds.

The Perfect Trainer. I've been working with Ami now for about 3 months or so, once a week. I've followed Weight Watchers for my diet, but I've taken every advice Ami has given me to heart and they have all paid off. Her constant encouragement and praise have absolutely made this journey fun and rewarding! I'm about 8 pounds from my goal, but I've already exceeded my fitness goal. Makes getting in shape fun. I've been working with Ami for a couple months now. I'm not someone who has ever enjoyed exercise but I need to get in better shape and take off some extra pounds. A mutual friend recommended I try Ami. My goal was to get to the point where I would work out on my own. I'm not there yet, but I really look forward to our twice-weekly sessions. She's doesn't tolerate a lot of whining, pushes me gently but firmly to do more, offers compliments when she sees improvement, varies the exercises so there's always something new, and has such enthusiasm that she makes me want to do the work. After this relatively short time, I am stronger and according to friends I stand a little taller and with a bit more confidence. Her background in physical therapy helps her work around all sorts of injuries and physical limitations, like the tendinitis I had in one wrist. I know I work much harder with Ami than I would without her, and I actually like doing it. Working out with a personal trainer isn't cheap, but I figured it didn't cost much more than buying ever-larger clothes to try to disguise the excess weight. And it is an investment in my health, with the improvement in my appearance as a bonus. I think Ami's terrific!
Great Fitness Trainer. I have been going to Ami for a few months now. She is just great - has cured pain in my hips and leg that doctors and physical therapists have not been able to address. I love the workouts - they are challenging but not impossible and I am seeing great results. I needed someone to help me get focussed and motivated again and I would highly recommend Ami to anyone looking for some help with their fitness routine.

I've had quite a few trainers, all with excellent credentials. None of them come even close to measuring up to Ami at Focus Fitness Personal Training. Every training session with Ami is a new, exciting and very specifically targeted to my needs session. After each session I feel the best I've ever felt after a workout. I have lost inches off my waist, hips and thighs. I continue to gain muscle tone.

Excellent workout!. Ami is a fun trainer who creates distinctive workouts for each client. She really keeps the challenge alive and moving forward.Ami really listens to understand client limitations and concerns. Great Results, Great Trainer. I've been working out for a LONG time and have been a member of several gyms in my life. I went to Amy to correct some very specific age-related (I'm 58) issues about posture, balance, definition, strength in my back. I'd hurt my back Jan 1st, 07 and had been to the Chiropracter many times and had been working on strengthening my abs & back muscles on my own, but hadn't solved the problem. I also had forward head/neck syndrome from sitting in front of the computer all those years. My balance was starting to go as well. After only 3 months with Amy, I've seen significant improvement in all these areas! I've become MUCH stronger. I see major improvements in my body and my confidence has improved immensely. I dropped a pants size too! Amy tailors the exercises to work with my specific issues and is constantly changing them to keep things interesting and challenging. She knows how to keep me motivated and makes the time at our sessions go by quickly. She has a great personality and we laugh and tell each other stories while we're working out. Yes, Amy usually works out right beside me or is focused on what I'm doing every second unlike the trainers at every other gym where I've trained (maybe that's why she named her business "Focus" Fitness!). Training with Ami.
I started training with Ami over 6 months ago and I have discovered how much fun working out can be. Ami is a great trainer! She is enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about good health and fitness. She is knowledgeable about her field and consistently introduces new exercises to keep our sessions interesting. Ami is also dependable; she arrives on time and makes the most of our time together.
I have a medical condition that makes certain exercises challenging for me. Ami has been able to develop an individualized program based upon my needs. She encourages me to increase my fitness level, and, at the same time, helps me to listen to my body so I don't overdo. I am amzed at my progress.

You'd be lucky to have her train you!. I've worked out with many trainers over the years and after moving to San Francisco four years ago, I've struggled to find anyone REALLY GOOD. I stumbled upon Ami on some website and was sooooo lucky to find her. She really is adaptable to any problems you might have, which is a rarity because most trainers just push you to do what you sometimes shouldn't do. Ami takes what your goals are and designs your workout around them (and to what your body can do). If you are lucky enough to find space in her schedule, sign up!
