Review of Mixed Martial Arts Classes at Fearless Fitness.
Recently, I joined the Fearless Fitness gym in Foster City to continue to practice MMA. My previous training experience is about a year of basic grappling and striking at another gym in the East Bay near my home. My experience thus far is that Fearless Fitness is the type of place that TEACHES mixed martial arts as opposed to just throwing you in a ring after 30 minutes of instruction. By training at Fearless I’ve been able to UNDERSTAND how techniques should be applied in order to make the movement effective and efficient.
Aside from teaching great MMA, the staff is knowledgeable, patient and inviting. This is the type of place where you can bring your family and friends for a great workout and not feel intimated to join in the various classes. As someone who loves the gym, the various classes offered by Fearless (Kung-fu, FIT, MMA etc) breakup the monotony of being at a gym and are excellent for overall conditioning and flexibility. If you want a great workout, want to LEARN different martial arts all while meeting fun and interesting people—Fearless Fitness is the place to be!
Best place in foster city.
Having been disappointed with my previous school , I was looking for a change and I found fearless in arts of wine festival. They offered free sessions of each of the class they provide and let us choose the one we liked. I was looking for Martial arts and a meditative environment and a meditative teacher. And I found it here. I like my kung fu teacher a lot, because he has a very good energy and teaching ability.
I also like it that other teachers encourage me to build my strength by making me use their various equipment during the open-mat sessions.
Great instructors, Great facility, Perfect for kids and teens.
My 13-year old son has been taking martial arts for 8 years, including the last 18 months at Fearless Fitness. Under the expert instruction and guidance of the fabulous Fearless Fitness teachers, I've watched him grow from an "average" martial arts student who was not really enthusiastic about training into a strong, confident, and motivated student. Most importantly, he really loves going to class and the techniques he is learning are making him into a better, more well-rounded martial artist.
The schedule is very flexible, the atmosphere is supportive and low-key, and, best of all, Sihing Paul is fantastic with kids. He makes it fun and educational, with just the right amount of disipline and respect. His knowledge of Eastern and Western martial arts is amazing and he makes every class a real world learning experience. If you have a son or daughter who is interested in martial arts, or you just want them to get some exercise or gain some confidence and focus, I cannot recommend Fearless Fitness more highly.
I know this all sounds a bit cliched, but it's true. Check it out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
The only down-side to all of this is my son now wants to try out everything he knows on his old dad. I feel a little like Inspector Clouseau with my very own Kato waiting to attack me at any moment from around any corner!
serious fun, great atmosphere. Fearless Fitness is the best. I get an inspired workout in a positive environment, while learning self defence techniques. They have classes in self defence, Mixed Martial Arts, Western Martial Arts (swordfighting), and pure cardio. The instruction is amazing - personalized and practical - and the whole staff is supportive. I highly recommend Fearless for kids and adults whether your interest is self defence, a great workout, learning to spar, or playing with swords.
Fun, practical martial arts.
I've been doing martial arts for 4 years, and I have both seen and heard the horror stories about overzealous instructors, useless techniques and too much emphasis on looking pretty over learning practical skills. I'm an 'older' student (let's just say over 35!) and a not-so-big woman, so I also have to be particularly careful to train without getting hurt. Fearless Fitness has been great. They focus on practical techniques and building overall fitness. They take a personal interest in the training of each student and accommodate injuries well. I really look forward to each class I go to there. It's a fun group, and the classes seem to be over way too fast.
They're kind of hard to find, behind IHOP right off of highway 92 in Foster City. All the equipment is new, and the place has high ceilings and is very clean (I've definitely been to martial arts studios that are not!). No smell of old sweat here. Note that it doesn't have a shower, but they do have a changing room.
They let you try your first class for free. On the finance side, they let you pay by individual class or sign up for a plan. I travel a lot on business, so some months I do a plan, and some I do class by class.
Si-hing Paul is great with kids, and Si-jie Erika teaches women's fitness classes (your buns will hurt for days!). If you're an experienced fighter, go on sparring night and partner up with Si-hing Damon. They do western martial arts classes, too (longsword, broadsword) for you renaissance faire types.
If you're interested in learning some practical martial arts and self defense techniques and getting in shape in a supportive, helpful environment, this place is for you.
