VIP or stand all night... – I went there recently and luckily I had bottle service otherwise I would've been standing all night. All seats are "reserved" in this place. And even if you are "VIP" it takes awhile for them to get their act together to let you in. The DJ is pretty good, but the bartenders tend to get too chatty with the girls and it can take awhile to get their attention.
Great Place! – My girlfriends and I had not been out in a while, so we decided to try this new place we found online - Harlot. First of all, there was not a line outside and as soon as we walked up the host offered us VIP service. We then proceeded to get drinks, and the bouncer was kind enough to pick up our tab.
The music was a mix of old school and new school rock, R&B, and hip hop. Also, the crowd was great because there were more mature people (in their early 30's; I'm 25) and less teenie boppers. Overall, we had a great time! Harlot is currently my favorite place to go.
Avoid this place if you want to have a good night out with your girlfriends – This place was ridiculously overrated. The club itself had way too many people just waiting in line outside..and once you actually get in, the club is dead. The people weren't stylin' or chic. It's a bunch of superficial people hanging around a night club. That's all there is folks...
Rude service - San Francisco is NOT New York. – This is currently a "trendy" spot for San Francisco nightlife but it will probably not be "hot" for very long. When we contacted the club about table service, the female manager was snobby, rude and disrespectful. She acted as if she came from New York to teach people from our city how to properly enjoy nightlife. Her style was, how shall I say this, not very San Francisco. If her attitude is anything like the owners - the club's popularity will flame out rather quickly. This is not New York nor do we want it to be.
Tough to have a celebration when more people are invited than who is on the guest list – Had to turn people away which was a bummer. I asked for another table with another guest list, but the hostess offered another bottle and everyone coming for my party would be able to get in. I got another bottle on top of the two I purchased but she switching her promise to only 4 people would be able to enter the club with the extra bottle purchase. That's $100 per person. Luckily, I voiced my complaints to the owner, and he quickly credited me back the extra bottle purchase for the confusion the following Wednesday.
No breasts? Don't bother. – You will not be allowed in if you don't bring at least 2 women with you. Period. Even if you come early.
Lose the tude – Talk about bouncers with too much power. Stood in line with a friend (2guys) while they let groups of girls in and anyone who knew the bouncer in. Hope they enjoy the popularity while it lasts because by next year they'll be begging guys who actually buy the girls and themselves drinks to come in. Went to john collins instead and left the attitude and the line behind. It might be great inside but, the attitude to get there is ridiculous.
The spot is hot!! – There's no denying that this place is a hot spot! The people that go there are of all different kinds and are all so friendly. The women I met there were so friendly and so so fine!! Who knew there was such a thing... haha. I mean isn't the crowd the most important thing anyways? Now "Harlot" is listed and is a "bar/lounge/club", but to be honest I think it's best to view it as just a "bar/lounge"; and the reason is that at times, there are just way to many people in that place to dance. What makes it up is, again, the crowd... I was able to chat it up with random ladies and even the guys. Definitely a place to mingle and to be seen at. .......................In response to "not worth it" review... you know that it's a club, and you should know that anyone that goes to a club at 9:45 will usually end up being in a line. Most clubs do this... if you think about it, this strategy makes sense. If they were to just let people in there wouldn't be a line... and if there isn't a line, those that aren't on the guest list will make a quick judgment of the place and conclude that it's not a happenin spot. You should actually feel somewhat privileged that you were able to get in early and get a head start with drinks and have found the best spot to chill at. For your friends that got there later, all I say is this... setup for success.... be smart about things, like for instance getting know the bouncer. .......................All you other "Harlot" virgins, be prepared to clean up the mess... haha...
Not worth it – Heard about this new spot and decided to check it out for my friend?s birthday?what a terrible idea?.we had no idea that they would pick and choose who gets in and that for every 5 girls they let 1 guy in. We got there at 9:45?early right? Well there was already a line of guys outside, they weren?t letting them in, there were 5 of us (girls) and 1 guy, so we got right in?to find the lounge pretty empty, there was no reason to have a line outside, but apparently they were trying to keep the guy to girl ratio (which I guess they thought should be 1:5). We had told a lot of people about this place and were told the week before when called to ask about the place that there was no cover, to find when we got there that there was no cover for girls and guys that came with girls, but if guys came alone there was a cover. Guess it didn?t matter because they couldn?t get in anyway. Most of our friends came around 11 and were not let in, after an hour of watching them let people walk up and get in they were told that unless they know the owner they wouldn?t get in. So my advice is don?t bother going there...even if you do get in, its crowded, hot and the bouncers are rude.
Good debut - crowded but worth it – If you can get in, it's worth it. Good music, good (dare I say sophisticated?) crowd, and good vibe. I hope this place stays "cool" -- everything seems to be too NYC wannabee around SF lately. Get on their guestlist and make friends with the bouncer to save time on the wait to this newbie in town.
